Takeshi Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 Alright guys. The gasket that goes between the carb and manifold is leaking juice and needs replacing. Theres no insulator fitted, whether thats right or not I dunno. Tried quite a few motor factors and aint had no luck, most dont wanna know it when it comes to carbs. Burton etc dont list the one I need for my car, just VV and twin choke's etc. Anyone got one they could sell? Its a 1600 Pinto, fed by a Weber 34ICH... Thanks.
countrybumpkin Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 just buy a sheet of gasket paper and make your own
flyingbanana Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 just buy a sheet of gasket paper and make your own cost about 12p and buy the thickest stuff they do
countrybumpkin Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 So I dont need the insulator? o yeah we forgot about that, unless the isulator is brocken it shouldnt need replacing, just make sure its nice and flat both sides by sticking a piece of wet and dry to some glass and rub it smooth
bortaf Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 In the past i've made wooden spacers , they do help hot starts (insulates the carb from head headsoak)
Takeshi Posted October 28, 2008 Author Report Posted October 28, 2008 Ah right yeah theres no spacer/insulator fitted lol, and I'm not having much luck finding one. Would Ford's still be able to get hold of one?

Would Ford's still be able to get hold of one? whats the car? yes ford should be able to get you one but make sure they actualy do it for you as a lot of them wont bother as its more hassel than a normal part
over_head_cam Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 I made one from a 10mm thick piece of high density plastic. Worked a treat
TwoLitrePinto Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 i was running my 2.1 pinto with a 38DGAS and no insulator with a home made gasket, started and ran fine hot or cold, apparently having the carb a bit closer to the manifold gives it a tiny bit more torque but dont qoute me on it
supersport Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 sales@fastroadcars.co.uk give them an e-mail as i got some carb bits from them.
Fiesta Steve Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 apparently having the carb a bit closer to the manifold gives it a tiny bit more torque but dont qoute me on it Further away I thought m8 ??
TwoLitrePinto Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 you may be right i cant remember clearly now it was a while ago lol, but it still worked fine without the insulator block and i never caught light or anything lol
