I must admit mines is, ive spent 700 quid on the bloody thing and that was on just getting it running right and fitting security to keep the insurance happy, which is now draining my batterys in 2 bloody weeks, i had such high hopes for it, respray, tidy up interior, fit a 2ltr pinto, and it seems to have ground to a halt and ive lost my motivation completly. The offers of help that were there before i got the car are no longer as there "Busy" so i tried to tackle the stuff myself! And its showed me how very little i know technicaly too  A guy not long offered to buy it and i must admit i was tempted.

Its the car ive always wanted i just dont feel like im living the dream anymore

Think thats part & parcel of classic car ownership mate, even more so if its modified. But I find the high's far outweigh the lows when I'm out and about in it. As has been said mate, stick with it, it will pass, take a break from it and you'll find you will come back all re-freshed, especially if you keep on this site, the buggers on here have a funny knack of pulling you back in and not letting go :lol:

My Yellow Anglia has been off the road since April, had the gearbox in & out a few times. It's all sorted now just need to pop on the gearbox, bolt on the carbs & sort a prop..... can I get motivated to go out in the cold & dark...

Basically i need a respray as ive cracks in paint and micro blisters! Oh and a new loom as my old one is pants i want rid of the security as its messing up my car big style i had no issues till it was fitted,I'll invest in a Akita its cheaper  And i want more power the flows just not fast enough, need to sort out suspension also as theres no way it will make it through another mot as the rear leafs are shot, on a bright note i do have my prop and 5 speed and a box of other bits and bobs just need an rs bell housing and pinto

aye it happens mate...sometimes its one thing after another. you swear and lock it up for a week saying 'stay there' or 'ill sell you on ebay' then you get thinking about it again and your soon back in the garage like ebfore.

my car is unlucky i swear. its constantly one thing after another with it and it really gets me down and i have even wrote out the ebay advert for it once.

but i just go in the garage and fire up the old girl. sit there listenign to the tone of the xflow purring away and imagine that 1700....or i remember the good times blasting along scarborough seafront behind a chavved up mk5 escort and he was fuming becuase iw as loduer and cooler than him.

the last few weeks vie had a nightmare with rear bumpers not fitting, chipped paint, rusty holes, shift light problems (the led fell off), dash clocks breaking and nothing going right....i had a break for a few weeks and moaned like a bitch about it...cleared my head and went back withs ome mroe dash clocks, a repaired shift light and guilt that it was sat there all alone and its starting to coem together now...ive even got some metal to start welding up that hole!

just have a small break and go back to it in a week or so with a fresh head....youll get there mate. it takes time. there is nothing like someones reaction when they see it...get on the local boy racer websites and get down to one of their 'cruises'....they will cream their pants over it or laugh at it...either way you leave there sideways with the engine barking like a guard dog and youll have a smile as long as the amazon river and remember why you bought the car in the first place :wink::wink::wink::wink:

the pinto conversion is pretty easy you can use a cast bell housing doesnt have to be the rs one so long as its a pinto one

if your changing the wiring loom try and get a rs 2000 one then that will save you having to alter the wiring again when you fit the pinto

all the jobs yoo listed arnt to hard to do just take your time and read up on them if your not sure though the body work is expensive now a days

i just piss canned mine satin black  i cant afford a respray

when i was sorting mine out i took the interior out and found a ittle patch of rust on the inner sill no probs i thought started to clean the area and then it went on and on and thought about calling it a day and starting a new motor but wife said just keep with it and now im glad i did , so my advice to you mate is keep with it

i find things get done better when you drag yourself out of bed as early as possible and get some of that ice cold air down your lungs.

if you stop working then you freeze to death so you kinda get busy

of course i work evenings so your screwed if your a 9-5 worker  but then again i dont get to go the pub

Mine did and I bit the bullet and sold it for peanuts. I felt ashamed when all the neighbours came out as it was taken away and asked why i was selling it. Now all i've got is the oily patch on the drive. Wow , I miss it.

As said mate, think everyone feels like that at times, its the joys of cars (or woes). ive had to do quite a bit of work to the Capri whilst still keeping on top of any problems my other car has as well. I don't know hardly anything about cars, so have to rely on my dads old mates for help and good friends. It does get you down so i can sympathise, but it'll all be worth it in the end believe me.

Oh and as for the security, i'm sure i can lend you my Dobermann, she loves sitting in cars :D:mrgreen:
