Seen them in maplins with the dukes type aerial !

I used some handheld walkie talkies on holiday recently bloody great they were ,we were taking to my mates car all the way to cornwall from london and had massive range only cost £25 in argos !

HA HA, I had one when I was 14 and made my dad put up a Silver rod on the roof? is that what its called?

 

silver rod , do they still make thoses?

i had a thnderpoll 3 and then when i went side band i got a sigma4 best money can buy

Had on on the wired on a motorbike battery on my raleigh chopper about 1986 :thumbsup:

got one in my truck had it years easy to fit , mine is literally chucked in runs off cigarette lighter plug & mag mount on the roof , doesnt get out too bad ( about 20 miles, depends what the terrain is like ) used to drive muckaway tipper was really handy when a few were on a job in the sticks to look out for stuff coming the other way !! :)

need to find somewhere to fit it cos it wont fit where i wanted :evil:

 

so i was gonan put remove the tape holder and put it there but volvo being volvo decided to put a blanking plate behind there...held in by 4 rivets and 2 screws. its a dash out job to remove this plate :evil:

 

ill get it in there :twisted:

The best set up i had in my old TD mk6 escort was my Lincoln with an astetic tear drop mike a KL 500 amp in the glove box and a siro hi power 4000 on the roof !!! Proper job. After playing about with cb's for long enough i thought it was time to do it propley and i am now a raido ham instead !!!!

harrier CBX nice rig i preffered the fidelity 2001 used a turner jm+2u power mike and a 6ft firestick on my back bumper with 150watt bremmies best mobile set up i ever had, on the old am i think i had an old midland of sort

27MHz CB is short wave (technically) right next to the 10metre (28MHz) ham band. Up there your very dependant on propagation conditions but i used to talk all around europe and to the US when the conditions were right.....did have 250W linear on the back end tho 8) but you didnt normally need that much power. Used to take out the neighbours telly so had to turn it down normally!

we did fox hunts , they were great , we set rules that you couldent hide on private ground so it made it well hard to find a good spot where no one could find us , .......the old tricks where you would key up and they would listen to try and track you ,..... and if they were realy close,. you could cheat and take the aerial out the back and make them think that they were further away than what they was :lol:

i was well in to these from 79 up to about 86 lol,still have my old nato 2000sideband c.b.i brought a cobra 148 and a k40 off ebay just over a year ago.fooked if i would have one in my car tho tbh,great if there are a few of you tho doing a road trip.

or you off road in shitty landrovers with beards and hats :mrgreen::mrgreen:

i resent that not all land rovers are shitty some get cleaned, and i dont have a beard or a hat :lol:
