Anyone got a remote control car under there bed or in the cupboard that they do not use anymore? I had until my friend told me about a little tip on how to get them to get them drifting! All you do is wrap insulation tape on the drive wheels and away you go! It works best on 4wd cars, so go ahead and try it.

I do have a proper tuned rc drift and it is great fun.I also have many rc cars and this does work but two things

1, works best on shaft drive cars rather than belt drive

2, make sure you wrap the tape the correct way because I have seen people with tape wrapped around everything where it undid on the tyres.

Cheap enough to by the correct tyres.

p.s adjust the camber at the front slightly.

Mine was a tuned track car and i got a bit bored of it but now its such a laugh again. my mates have nitro petrol cars and are pretty quick but mine is electric shaft driven with electronic speed controller, steel race bearing's and all the other essentials. here's a pic of mine and how the wheels look 'taped' up.

lock up the diff :ykt:

just open it up, put a few bits of broken screw in there.. hey presto

but you do have to take it apart from time to time (when you hear a large gringin noise)

make sure your diff is metal tho.. if its blastic it will screw it :ykt:

seen some of the drift cars by hpi they look ace. I want a radio controlled mk2 escort but cant find a shell anywhere. I think I might make one

Kamtek do mk1/2 escort shells, 4 doors, 2 doors and vans, in fact all classic fords are catered for now.

You can buy tyres now or make them yourself. Just buy some pvc pipe and cut to size. Or get them on ebay for dead cheap. Or spend more and buy the proper drift tyres.

Ive still got two cars, a TT-01 and an old Carbon chassi'd Yokomo race car. The TT-01 has a one way locked front diff and enough upgrades to make it consistent. The Yokomo can overtake cars on a main road on pvc tyres.

I had loads of bodies too. Ill post some up in a bit.

get an FG and buy a 26cc bore up kit..... no need to tape tyres up, just keep some spares

i'd love an FG but at the moment i'll have to put up with my revo, which if i stiffen up the suspention does drift rather well but mainly due to the huge engine i've fitted to it

I usually drive in a school gym, the floor there is very smooth and slippy so you can generally get some good drifting going on anyway, but I may have to try locking the diffs to see what it's like.

These are my two small electric cars...

(I've got a 1/5 petrol buggy too)

cant find a mk2 shell on there. :x

what I might do is buy another 1/18th scale rally diecast model, and fit a 1/18th R/C chassis underneath, thats the only way I think I can get a radio control mk2
