w p e Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 you need the crank /clutch/front pulley all together to balance a flywheel or you can buy a CNC machined f/wheel from burtons
Mr Sam Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 dont lighten it too much or your revs die too much when you pull away
KJ 1320 Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 dont lighten it too much or your revs die too much when you pull away inertia

Fiesta Steve Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 what exactlly does the balancing do ?????? Have you ever had a road wheel out of balance ? Same thing
BIG G Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 I machined about a 1/2 of the weight off my pinto flywheel but as there were no balance drillings on the counter weight on the back and no cold spots in the casting and was clocked up to 5-10 microns run out never felt the need to get it balanced again and seems ok till now.....fingers crossed

Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 what exactlly does the balancing do ?????? Have you ever had a road wheel out of balance ? Same thing sory i meant do you have to get it balanced to the crank or is it ok just to fit a lightend and balanced flywheel to your car with the crank as it is
RS2kSX Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 gave it a good ragging (sorry gentle drive ) down A1(M) after a while it started to make a funny (laughfter) noise... stopped at services to see, nothing wrong unttill i started it up. it just fell off..... bumped it to get going and drove it home, no noise or knocking parked up and that's what i found. it's now tack welded on, F**ck the balance it works.
