Rick Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 bit disapointed cuz iv fitted this lsd and cant seem to feel any difference. you think its cuz im lacking a bit of power or im just not goin in hard enough. couldnt go too mad cuz the roads are busy today but im on the look out for a nice quiet carpark.
sambo Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Wait til you find a car park mate. Try going round a bend and putting your foot on the clutch, then rev the nuts off it, then bring the clutch in quick. You'll be all over the place with a huge grin on your face!
stevepeanut Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 With normal road use I cant tell any difference between my old capri with the LSD and my escort with a normal diff. I think you really have to be pushing very very hard on the road.
PAUL MANN Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 do you know if its a more road going lsd if so you will have to give it some beans as they take ia little more to lock up,if you opted for a motorsport lsd it will be very tight & lock up very easily, practice is the key ,drive it like you stole it that will have the back hanging out remember power is nothing without control or have i got it wrong & you are on about drugs
Rick Posted December 30, 2008 Author Report Posted December 30, 2008 i dont mind going for it but i dont want it to go 90 degrees at 70mph when im not ready for it
antz Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 you dont need to. just do what sambo said and see what happens
PAUL MANN Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 you wont need speed,as sambo said go round an island 2nd gear slip the clutch & slide your way out, practice young segwan wax on wax off
Rick Posted December 30, 2008 Author Report Posted December 30, 2008 right o nice one. thought i was missing something i need a better carb on this engine i cant get it over 4k revs so thats not helping are they supposed to be noisier too? this one seems to moan a little at higher speeds. its brand new so surely it should be fresh
stevepeanut Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 I was going to buy an LSD for my escort, but its at the bottom of my list now. For regular road use I cant tell any difference, maybe once I've got a lot more power it will make more sense.
Rick Posted December 30, 2008 Author Report Posted December 30, 2008 you know when your tanking round a long bend, you can feel the cars on the edge but i dont wana tickle that peddle and find myself full on sideways at 70 mph, once was enough. .. i gotta go find a deserted carpark tomoz...
antz Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 mine makes a bit of noise but my old diff used to rumble i love that on the edge feeling but it just keeps gripping
Deano1351 Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 You will only notice it at slower speeds (1st, 2nd gear) on the roundabouts and messing in carparks. Theres not many things that will get one back wheel spinning at 70mph let alone two back wheels. Dumping the clutch in first pulling out of a junction is a goodun, plenty sideways from that
ASBO CAPRI Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 Give it a bootfull out of a junction dropping the clutch and giving the steering a little tug. Should do the trick if your engines got enough torque to spin the tyres in the dry otherwise try it on a damp road. You don't need to be going fast at all to get the arse out just need to get your rear wheels spinning
Fiesta Steve Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 You need to try going sideways at 7 mph, not 70 !!!
over_head_cam Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 You need to try going sideways at 7 mph, not 70 !!! Wise words Mr.Steve
erick Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Some details of the lsd new used etc was the pre load checked before the diff was installed.
BIGKEV Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Bring it round mine - I'll show you how its supposed to go
Rick Posted December 31, 2008 Author Report Posted December 31, 2008 do you think its cuz i have 15x7 wheels with fresh tyres? my engine prob has about 70hp so its not really got the muscle to throw those round in the dry
MK2Ed Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 A quickrack will also help with controls if u don't already have one...
PIG Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 find a decent sized roundabout on an industrial estate m8,go round it and build the speed.dont try it on the roads until you are sure of how it will react.imo
Rick Posted December 31, 2008 Author Report Posted December 31, 2008 find a decent sized roundabout on an industrial estate m8,go round it and build the speed.dont try it on the roads until you are sure of how it will react.imo yeah deffo, prob why it aint happened yet its not somet i wana rush into with busy roads.
Deano1351 Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Maybe get hold of a pair of skinny wheels and tyres to bung on the back for practice
Fiesta Steve Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 Get some old steelies and whack 50 psi in them and you'll be facing on coming traffic before you know it !!
RETRO_AL Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 You dont need to do a lot of speed rick(untill you get good),you can test it from a junction, put some lock on first to turn out ,rev it to 4k and smash the clutch out you should be needing some opposite lock almost instantly or find a quite ind estate, if you get seen by the pigs doing it on a roundabout you could end up in trouble
