tom28 Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 on me way to a party last night i got pulled over by mr plod. he started looking round me car with his flashlight and was'nt too happy about the holes in the side where i took trim off the car. carried on looking round and found a hole on the passenger footwell, it was the access hole for the chassy rail! i had to tell him it's supposed to be there but he did'nt believe me so now ive gota go down copshop tomorrow and take my mot down there. and to top it off he goes im gonna have to issue you with a fine of £60 and 3 points on license, and i sed WHAT!? He goes, you door does'nt shut properly, i said it's an old car and showed him how to shut it properly, bit of a slam like they all are and then he goes ok i wont issue a fine or points. How stupid is that? still gota go there and prove the hole is ment to be there, it's got full years mot for f**k sake!1 arhh angers me, still it's funny how thick some people are.
steve mk2 Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 u should of showed him how its such a symetrical co-incedence how it rusted to a perfect oval shape on the drivers side too
escamino Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 What did he stop you for? Has to have a reason.
Copey Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 What did he stop you for? Has to have a reason. not this time of year mate, round christmas they stop anyone and everyone for random alcohol checks and the likes
macleod861 Posted January 1, 2009 Report Posted January 1, 2009 had the same problem with pc plonkers up here ,they were trying to put my anglia off the road for not having seatbelts car doesnt need them for mot
tom28 Posted January 2, 2009 Author Report Posted January 2, 2009 lol makes me laugh but does piss me off! they think just cos it's old it's not safe! still went drifting tonite
Copey Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 lol makes me laugh but does piss me off! they think just cos it's old it's not safe! still went drifting tonite yeah, you are probably right, but if it was someone else driving round in an unsafe car would you be impressed? i feel sorry for coppers, ok some are pains, but for the most part, like the lad who pulled you over, are just doing ther jobs he may not know about older cars, so its better to be safe than sorry with a hole isnt it? and you are annoyed that he pulled you over, which he will have done just to make sure you hadnt been drinking, what if he decided not to pull anyone over and a drunk person crashed into you? you would complain that the copper wasnt doin his job, right? so stop complaining, he was just doing his job at the end of the day, get over it!!!!
Trevmk3 Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 i dont mind getting pulled over in the cortina, at least i can be assured it willl get noticed if it ever gets nicked
tom28 Posted January 2, 2009 Author Report Posted January 2, 2009 calm down copey, i know what ya saying about the whole drink driving thing but he pulled me over for stupid reason and was being an arseh*le in general about me car, don't get me wrong you meet some nice one's ive been caught drifting loads of times now and been let off for it i just thought this time was a little silly just cos he could'nt shut the bloody door.
Retro-gone. Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 my best mates a copper, in fact hes a seargent and some of the xmas related drink/drive stories he tells me are unbelievable, on xmas eve this year a doris was stopped for a random check as she was driving very slow,, as she got out of the car she fell over and collapsed, amblance was called and rushed to hospital, turns out shed been drinking since luchtime and consumed 3 bottles of wine and several shots, the worst thing was her best mate had lent her the car to get home but yeah some coppers are absolute twats and even my mate says this.
Messenjah Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 best one was from australia ... a bloke got pulled over for driving erratically he had no arms and was driving uing one foot to steer and change gear and the other to do the clutch brake and accelerator and he didnt have a driving licence .. the best bit there was a sober guy with all his limbs and a licence in the passenger seat ...
Retromotorsport Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 You only have to look at the cop programmes on TV ..or look around in town of a nightime to see the abuse they get. Now dont get me wrong, even if he had had 20 other people during his day slagging him off, resisting arrest , spitting, biting, punching him, he shouldnt become arsey with you when you have the hump that hes pulled you over in a vehical that A: is stolen a lot recently and B: get drifted around a lot ...... Now if some drunk had stolen your car, and was drifting round Asdas carpark, would you moan if he stopped him... ? I'm 40, been driving all manner of cars for over half my life, including cars what you think stand out like a sore thumb, stickered up, lairy colours, flames on the overrun coming from the exhaust that exited through the sill infront of the rear wheel .... and i've had one policeman stop behind me after i's parked up to inform me that one rear light wasnt working... technically a nick, his words, " probably an earth, give it a tap... there you go, dodgy earth give it a clean and it will be allright " The car ..... a 3.1 V6 mk2 estate , red with a black sidestripe ... Theres coppers reading this ... and i know what i would be thinking if i was one.. ' they soon want us to pull over every osf when theirs get stolen ' so... spare a thought, because garrenteed you'll probably need a copper before they need you.
over_head_cam Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 I don't think the majority of us here have any problem with being pulled over, but we all know that the coppers can check the details of the car before we get the tug, and I would assume that they would have some knowledge of the vehicles they are looking at. In this instance it seems that the officer in question either 1. Didn't have a clue, or 2. Was in a mood.
Retromotorsport Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 and you also get MOT'ers that havnt clue about old cars ... and they work on them
tom28 Posted January 2, 2009 Author Report Posted January 2, 2009 he was a nice enough copper and was'nt in a mood at all he just did'nt have a clue about the car.
