Hi All

I've got an annoying issue with my fiesta mk5. It has bugged me for a while but recently it is becomnig dangerous.

When I press the button to squirt my windows, can I stop the wipers from automatically wiping 3 times.

Recently with the cold my washer jets are frozen (dispite adding more and more additive to it)

So theres me plodding down the A1 every morning, and my windscreen gets covered with that grey crap that gets thrown up from the car in front. I press the button for water, and nothing comes out. But then the wipers go 3 times automatically and smear it everywhere. This makes it almost impossible for me to see, and I cant really pull over anywhere to deal with it. This has happened every day this week so far.

If I was in my old escort I wouldnt have this issue. Drives me mad!!!

So, can I do anything, or cut a wire, or anything, so that I can just squirt my windows and not have the wipers go?

Thanks

yeah Id wire a separate switched feed directly (but fused) to your washer pump so you can wash only, you may need to relay switch the original wiring out though as it might back feed and run your wipers depending on the wiring. just try connecting a live from the bat to the washers under the bonet to see.

I was hoping I could just snip a wire or something. But I do kinda like the idea of heated jets. They dont look difficult to fit either.

I have the same prob in my mk5 i never used a solution in the water, so i though fook it why not. Now they work fine even when frozen.

What gets me more is the drivers door keeps filling up with water!

Just run undiluted screen wash

This happens on my Cappa, both the front and back resivoirs freeze up so bad that the pump doesn't even work

Really? Isnt that bad for the paintwork? :?

So long as you've polished/waxed the car, it'll be alright. Even says on the container sometimes to run undiluted if it gets really cold.
