D4N Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Well got made redundant in November and i didn't think i would have a job till April with the way the world is at the moment. The job is for fabrication which is not really what i want to do so not sure if i will take it. If i don't tanke it i wouldn't know when i would get another offer.. I would prefer to do CNC machineing. Well if anything its good interview practice. So whish me luck!

Take the job that's on offer, it will put some cash back in your pocket and there's nothing to stop you keeping your eye open for something else. Better to job seek as an earner who has the funds to be choosy than as someone who is skint and has to take anything to make ends meet.
Trevmk3 Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 as Scott said, take the job as it will keep your pockets lined you may grow to like it and think it was a good move

Yes i would do what you said but the only problem is, im doing an apprentiship and i can't just keep turning jobs down after working with them for 3 months. Need to get some were where i will be happy for atleast 2 years to get my apprentiship out the way. Take this and be a qualified weld & Fab or wait abit find CNC job and be qualified CNC machine programer.. decisions decisions..
mk1super Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Mate Welder fabricators good, if your wanting to make big bucks do it offshore on oil rigs. My mates cousin does it and he is minted! The fooker wouldnt help me mod mt Gear box tunnel though

D4N Posted January 15, 2009 Author Report Posted January 15, 2009 I do enjoy welding in the garage on the car but after going in there it dosn't apeal to me one little bit. Money is makeing it very tempting and is a good wage for an apprentice. I don't think the company will suport me at college next year for my further education i want to do on day release. So i would have to find the money which is alot! Over £1000! to do the further education. Which makes me want to find a larger comapny which will fund me. But thinking about it don't think that will happen at this time the way the world is in! Arrggg!!!
Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 16, 2009 Admin Report Posted January 16, 2009 I would go for the job that is offered and do the 2 years with them. There is no guarantees that any jobs you want will be available with the current economic climate so you may wait and find that the job you really want doesn't materialise (unless of course it is guaranteed then I would wait). If you really can't hack it then you can always leave. Good luck with whatever you choose to do though
Stu_B Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 I'd love to do welding & fabrication, it's a great opportunity to learn a skill. You can always go back to CNC in a coupla years
