..seriously. Again, i'm using OSF as a means to vent, so sorry.

Just got it back after two weeks in the garage, 400 quid and various new bits.

Drove to work this morning, fooking overheated. I drove it to the garage and demanded to know what was wrong, it was pretty apparent after a look over that THE F**KING HEAD GASKET HAS GONE! There were no signs of this before, it was pressure tested, the oil was clean everything was good.

I bought this car because i was willing to put up with the flack, i don;t car about being mocked for owning a rover. I wanted something safe for my baby...and now she;s here i have nothing. I have 200 quid left to pay i still owe my mum 700 quid for the car itself, so i'm now a grand out of pocket a fortnight before christmas with no car and no money to buy a new one. No one will give a me or laura a loan, and even if they did we couldn;t aford the re-payments.

was i a serial killer in a past life or something?

While this may seem funny to some of you, and i imagine it will to me one one day, it isnt now.

Feeling sorry for myself? Too fooking right i am.:cry::sad::cry:

Mate if you want a recommendation for a cheap family car that costs peanuts to run and is very well equipped. Mine is a Pug 406, go for the HDI 110 executive if you can find one, they come with every extra you could want, and are far better equipped than other similar sized cars, and generally much cheaper too.

I'm gonna stand back for loads of flak now, but honestly I bought mine so I could put the Escort away for the winter, and while it isn't very exciting, I just can't fault it in terms of reliabilty, comfort, equipment, etc etc. Mines done 125000 on a W plate and is a god send on cold winter mornings.

P.S. sorry to hear about your mechanical woes.

got a maverick 2.7td :o its a bit of a tank but you can get it sooooo sideways when you get the tyre pressure wrong  (it was my fault my mum put it off the road) it does everything we want it to and its never broken down on us  and it happily does 90 towing a car to racing
