What do you guys that run twin carbs on a post 1975 car do for emissions on the mot.....if its set up correctly should it pass or do you put the original carb back on each year?

i run bike carbs on mine n it passes year after year, its usually other stuff that it almost fails on, handbrake, no side light, etc etc

I have a 86 Capri and from what I remember the emission munimum level is soo high you should not need to worry.

pre 1975 is just a visual smoke test, our 1972 panel van has never had an emissions test. As for post, I am not sure, wasn't the emissions 1980? Our 1978 amby never had a test either.

Mine passes as long as it's under 4.5%. 1987.

Setting the carbs up properly doesn't mean it'll pass an emissions test. If you have a hot cam it might want to run a bit richer on idle, I know mine does, and it won't pass an emissions test .

 

I just tweek the idle mixture screws about 1/4 turn each and it should go through

Im dreading my scort going for its mot its on 40s running rather rich while idling odd bit of petrol drips out the exhaust when it gets hot it backfires think me carbs may need a twiddle or turn up idle?

mine wouldnt pass so the probe went up the exhaust of a peugeot 205 past with flyin colours then

just lean off the fuel mixture for the mot and readjust it when you get home .
