Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 what size tyres do you use on your osf and what pressures i have 185/60/13s on a mk5 cortina i did have 205/50/15 and now i notice the change it picks up faster but doesnt handle as good it feels lighter and responds different on steering all my suspension and steering is ok most parts are new and its just passed its mot
escortwithsunroof Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 185/60/13 nangkang tyres on the mk2, and 205/60/13 federal tyres on the GT And 8 old shity tyres on the ghia alloys and the eleite wheels old re-mould stuff
vibrating_Cake Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 215/40r16 and i run~32psi all round, unless im on the track then its something like 32-28 (front-rear) not too keen on the back stepping out whilst overtaking, tbh
Retro-gone. Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 205 60 13 with 32 psi in rear and 27psi in front.. when i had 185 70 13's on i put 30psi in all round.
Copey Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 205/60/13 rear 30psi and 185/60/13 front 27psi
Deano1351 Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 195/45/15 and theyre probably all flat by now
pauln Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 195/50/15 (mitchelin rear no name front) 24psi all round. Handles great much better than when I was on 13s.

Slammed Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 urr i have no tyres on my 6j steels so i have the lowest profile the 000/00/13

Handles great much better than when I was on 13s. ooh thats a low one Not a poke at anyone. It just works for me, the springs and dampers work well with the reduced tyrewall compliance.
Mr Sam Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 i did have 205/50/15 and now i notice the change it picks up faster but doesnt handle as good it feels lighter and responds different on steering smaller diameter rims accel quicker 12" steels ruuuled over pepperpots on the old fezza for 1/4 mile ive though about putting 13's on my plastic fezza to get a bit more accel but i do quite a bit of motorway driving so the 14's probably save me a bit of fuel cruising
sab6024 Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 205/60/13 on the Capper with 28psi rear and 24psi front And the oh so huge 145/12 on the Fezzy, god only knows what pressure is in them though

I've run out of wheelarch to put in anything wider. I love the grip with the modern profile (wet or dry). I only run 160lb springs at the front (zetecs up against the bulkhead and only slightly heavier than x-flow) with Capri singles and Gaz dampers on a soft setup. Could you expand on the differences between the 15s and 16s please.

(215/40r16
Deano1351 Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 Try this link for working out your tyre sizes http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html
pauln Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 Thanks Mr Cake. I'm very mean with tyres i will wear the old ones out first. I might go to 195/45/15s next time (i'm pretty happy with the way the car changes direction, no rubber/poly in the lower front suspension).

marky4 Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 185/60/13 yoko's on my ml's 175/50/13 yoko's on my ronals
lead foot Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 175/50/13 on 7x13 superlites 28 psi all round, seems about the best all round psi for the tina with this wheel/tyre combo .
PlopPlop Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 195/45/15 rear and 165/50/15 front, tyre pressure depends on carried weight etc
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 cheers guys you could fook about with tyre sizes and pressures all day long ive got 185/60/13 now with 23psi all round but at the end of the day ive gone fro 205/50/15 so im gonna notice a difference i will just have to get used to it because i cant afford to change my tyres again and at least these dont catch and ive also fitted a pair of new wings as i ground the whole lip off my others to get the 205/15s in and it accelerates well ive also been looking in old classic ford magazines on write ups of peoples cars and 185/60/13 are a very popular tyre size in the osf sceen and i want my car to accelerate well so its better for that
