Our wedding by the time we added everything up including church, reception venue, cars, dress, bridesmaids dresses, suit hire, booze and all the other miscellaneous expenses was somewhere between £15k and £20k. And we only had 100 guests to the sit down reception with a further 40 odd joining us in the evening.
Messenjah Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 weddings are big money antz and its no help to cokebottle at the moment but im seriously looking into wedding catering ive done / organised the food side of things for two now (300 guests and 250 guests) one was a curry and then english food buffet but with the added complication of it having to be halal and the english buffet side having to be pork free as well as having to have some gluten and garunteed nut free options. i didnt make the cake for either of these but im making my cousins weddding cake at the moment 4 tier fecker with icing roses the size of your fist and they all have to be made by hand by me lol and heres the kicker we have to do two cakes because were transporting them from stevenage to croydon and if anything was to happen to it en route itd be fooked lol not made a wedding cake before but my cousin was quoted £600 just to ice the cakes that they would have to supply

FredTransit Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 champayne > £450 How many bottles is that mate? Cos you can get real champagne for £6-7 a bottle in the hypermarkets in France (and I don't mean those nearly in the port of Calias, the proper ones the French go to like Carrefor) or an excellent Vin Mousseux for about £3, which I drink myself, every bit as good as Champagne! I would die spending six grand on something like a wedding, me and Gary would be more likely to sneak off and do it in Las Vegas for $25! Well not likely really, cos it's 30 years for us next month and it's not happened yet!
Mr Sam Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 so glad my missis wants to run off to vegas as long as i can hire some 50's yank tank all be happy

X FLOW EDDY Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 Thats it...Im staying single forever. I am with you on that one mate 20k for a wedding sounds like an waste of money to me, regastery office then down the chippy sounds more like it

I am with you on that one mate 20k for a wedding sounds like an waste of money to me, regastery office then down the chippy sounds more like it I wish, I'm betting your eventual wife to be will think differently. Even if you can persuade to a registry office (which isn't much cheaper than a church anyway) your chances of persuading her to be happy with a reception down the local greasy spoon are at best slim

Just been mate, but will be going back in September. Don't worry about the name, you can't go wrong with real champagne (and I don't mean generic sparking stuff), as the châteaus are sooo strictly controlled I have never had a bad cheap bottle! Even the Blanc de Blanc (the next one down) is good stuff.
mk3cokebottle Posted March 16, 2009 Author Report Posted March 16, 2009 sounds kushti , if i find out how bottles i need n get some cash to you would you bring some back for me ??
