stevepeanut Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 Spent 2 hours in the garage working the aprilia, fitted a new fancy slave cylinder that cost me the best part of £100 to import from Germany. Went to fire it up and.... nothing. Big twins are a bugger to turn over but it normally fires ok, only been stood for 2 months. I need something japanese!
badchild Posted April 7, 2009 Report Posted April 7, 2009 I need something japanese! Yes, yes you do Ive experienced them feckin italian bikes myself and would never ever ever ever ever recommend to anyone, overpriced brand new scrap, I fookin hate them, best to go jap! My mate has a 9 year ols honda sp1 and it still has the original battery, plugs and brakes, absolutley everything is original and its not as if it sits up all the time its used a lot and i have a 94 rvf 400 that drives like it's brand new

To make a comparason against he also has a 1977 T160 750 trimuph trident which is the bigest heap known to man !!!! It leaks oil it doesnt stop the wireing has a mind of its own ect ect ect
Admin Vista Posted April 8, 2009 Admin Report Posted April 8, 2009 I remember having a similar conversation with a Ducati owner I worked with in 1999. I owned a VFR 800 at the time and commuted on it every week all year round doing about 500 miles a week. He used to take the piss out of my "tourer" (his words) asking where the whip aerials etc were. Meanwhile his only came out when it was sunny, broke down all the time and probably covered less than 2000 miles a year, Italian bikes are evidently only for part time bikers!
Admin Mk2Jo Posted April 8, 2009 Admin Report Posted April 8, 2009 Italian bikers are fookin nutters in the traffic - weaving in and out, no helmets, stopping in front of you after they have just cut you up .... maybe it's the bikes and NOT them after all
stevepeanut Posted April 8, 2009 Author Report Posted April 8, 2009 I got it working, after advice from the aprilia forum. Have to hold the throttle wide open and keep the starter button pressed. After some horrendous noises like someone hitting an engine with a hammer, it fired up. Still gonna scrape £1000 a grand together and get something japanese, maybe a late 80s superbike, slabside 750 gsxr or a zxr750 h1. I still love the aprilia, but its so tempremental, so need something reliable parked next to it.
Mick The Mig Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 I went up to the shed to check out my '65 BSA a65 only to find the oil tank have drained down into the sump and then onto the floor. Best part of 4 pints GTX in a big puddle!!!! Thought to myself OK a job for the easter week-end but it appears I have an appointment with a garden fork, so says my missus.
