To Go Bubbles Or To Not Go Bubbles, that is the question?

Im Currently rebuilding a 1300 E Mk1, fitting a BDA/Zetec Engine, copy of a works BDG Engine, Do I go Bubbles or not, Can`t decide, im going for maize yellow, HELP GUYS, Will the colour carry the bubbles ok with no strips? looking for the classic RS1600 Look, running 7x13 miniltes, with 175/55/13 tyres,

 

Your Input Would be good , any pics of the colour i want with bubbles?

My say would be no bubbles too mate, i prefer the "original" look and they still look the biz with 7" wheels but lower the tyre to 175 50 13s...

I was kinda thinking that, just means ive got to buy a passenger side mex wing, drivers will go again, any idea where and how much for a Genuine wing?

Really not too sure mate i can ask at my club if there are any about but i think on here i have seen some recently too, or the dreaded bay!!! but they fetch big money there.

Bubbles

I vote in favour of bubbles for a number of reasons

 

1. It opens up your wheel and tyre options, without them the mk1 is quite limited on tyre and wheel width choices

 

2. A set of four steel bubbles can be had for the price of one N.O.S genuine RS wing (the 1300E was equipped with the flared arch). Fibreglass ones are peanuts.

 

3. They look hard as nails

This is very true, being a 1300E it did have the correct wings fitted, and the price of 4 steel bubbles is cheaper than one NOS Mex wing, im in a pickle now, What should i do,?????????????????????????

Im thinking im going to up the tyre size from a 50 sires tyre to a bigger one?

 

Or do i drop it to fill the arch?

Go up a tyre size, 50 profiles screw up your gearing too much

If i ever had to replace the arches on my escort i would go bubbles,but could'nt bring myself to cut original arches. My mate has bubbles on his mk1 & it looks the tits

I didn't know RD supplied them but if they do, them and every whereelse that supplies the steel arches gets them from expressed panels so you may as well cut out the middle man (unless you find one offering a big discount of course)

This is very true, as much as i do love the standard arch look, i think in this case im going bubbles, as i said ive cut the arches know so there you go, many thanks for the kind words and pics,
