Twinkle Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 had an mot booked for the escort today at 1 so yesterday i thought sod it i'll try the other set of world cup mounts to see if they lift the sump of the crossmember as it was touching slightly! wish i had stuck to my original plan of just trimming the lip off to give clearance!! after trying the others and not having a hope in hell of them lining up i put the originals back on, but as with escort they now dont fit and even with the box crossmember undone they wouldnt fit so now i have no mounts holding anything in as nothing will line up at all! attacked it again today and managed to change the mot til 5 this evening, you guessed it still not done on the plus side i took my volvo down for the mot instead as it had run out and was expecting a fail as i hadn't even given it a once over and it went straight through got tomorrow morning to have another go as got an mot slot booked for a customers car and might nick that if i can get it done in time!! any tips?

Twinkle Posted April 24, 2009 Author Report Posted April 24, 2009 its looking like i might have to m8, just annoys me when something is designed to fit and do a job and doesnt! i hate wcxm anyway as they are always a pain but its all i had so used it

Twinkle Posted April 24, 2009 Author Report Posted April 24, 2009 ita world cup cross member with the steel mounts, dont think they do ally ones for them? i usually make my own steel ones up when i use a standard crossmember but i havent got any standard members left
lee_capri Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 id bolt the box back up mate put the othe side on and see how central the engine is and height of it and clearnce of sump but if i just wanted to get it done and the other side is to short id cut the mound and re weld it with some 5 mm steel and brace it but that's me

Twinkle Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 managed to get them back on but with the short one on the drivers side! seems to give more room on the steering arm but still hitting the rear lip on the crossmember but not as bad as it was before
