i think the DRM/DTM the worst of them all

 

The modern DTM cars are the pinnicle of toring cars today, those supergods of the BTCC laps Brands Indy circuit, a course that suits FWD cars and is known as a power leveller, in 49seconds ... the DTM cars 42's .. which is a huge ammount of time ...

 

The older DTM with multiple manufactures in it had some of the best and most advanced machinery out there... engine changes in minutes with dry breaks .. pre-warmed engines going back in .. street circuits producing the thrills of Monaco, Macau and Birmingham .. around Berlin .. with one of the best hairpin corners in the world. And Ford was out there battling away.

 

Then you have the DRM, Batmobile BMW's gp2/4/5 Escorts and Gp5 Capris .... in a time where politics and corparate issues didnt get in the way of the driving ... just man.. machine and a winners flag

i want to see a car race not something like the starship enterprise,bits and bobs all over the shop.instant turnoff,it's hard to even tell the different makes cos they all design nearly the same look from their pooters no doubting the technology though.not sure when it all started to get out of control maybe the early 90's.

if you want to see something that is the same car under different banners, look at aussie V8's .. same aero package, same engine box and axle .. hence why the Fords have Ford on the screen and the Holdens have Holden ... its the only difference

i never said that but we all know they aint standard but they look it ,and that's more interesting to me than an overblown piece of plastic/carbon fibre pretending to be a saloon car,but more like a gt race car.sort of misses the point of the touring car name for me .might be more sedate now with all the cut-backs in all forms of motorsport,but not seen any of them on tv lately.

sorry, but the pic of the audi road car, and the audi dtm car..same car, arches and a wing, ... the citreon.. wing and arches, plus bulkhead mods, trans tunnels 4wd etc ..its more modded than the DTM cars ..so sorta shoots your statement down ...

you must be looking at a different pair of pics of the audi's to me then ,the only thing that looks similar is from above the arches

all below that line looks like it's been on steroids

i find sometimes, some people try and segregate cars to the point where they end up sounding like thier own exact car is the pinacle of motoring finesse (bronze4skin take note ) like escort owners with thier 2 or 4 doors or pinto/crossflow boswellox

 

e.g. capri owners will be stoopidly loyal to thier paricular engine type, but both will 'join forces against' an escort owner (as they ar'nt as good as capris ) but in the face of a vauxhall owner, we will all 'ford gang up' on them (cos they're shit ) , then as car owners together, perhaps we will all sneer at bikers due to them being repressed homosexuals wanting to dress like power rangers etc etc

 

is all a bit mental, and you would never catch me spouting any of this nonsense but a 2.0 capri in rosso red with 15'' minilites is probably the best car ever

i say also the DTM cars are closer related to their roadgoing counterparts than the xsara for example...

go and buy a 4wd turbocharged xsara/c4.... good luck!

 

now... go buy a 2.0 (i dont know what engine class the dtm's use?) audi something or other in RWD easy =)

I prefer 2 doors but would never turn down a 4 door Escort.

 

I've been to most of the DTM races for the last 2 seasons, My opinion is that DTM these days are nothing but a media circus. They are dead boring to look at, a big V8 producing 400 BHP ain't really a race engine in my ears, and just to fiil the stadiums Audi/Mercedes hands out 20 - 30.000 tickets for free. In the paddock rumours say that some races are arranged to make sure one make don't get to far ahead.
