But why is it owners of 2 door escorts seem to be almost disliked by other classic ford owners? Mk1 avo escort owners seem cop it most of all. Ive seen a few digs and comments on vairous forums including this one (From a small minority) that ensinuate were up ourselves amung other things.

Me neither, and TBH anyone that dislikes me (or anyone else for that matter) purely because of which car I own isn't somebody I'd want as a friend anyway.

theres always going to be a minority who feel it neccesary to have a dig at your choice of car, but they're just that. A minority. End of the day everyone has their own opinions and views. Some dont like 4 doors, some dont like 2 doors, some dont even like escorts. All in all we're all osf owners/entusiasts so we should be able to appreciate what each other can bring to the table in terms of our own cars

Thats what i think also, but i have seen a few jibes at prices etc of 2 door escorts

I think its 6 of one and half a dozen of the other on this.

 

Some escort owners look down their noses at the 4 doors as they are cheaper and seen as more of the 'shopping cart' or for people who cant afford a 2 door or even 'just a donor' to keep a 2 door alive.

 

But then the 4 door owners (myself included) do have some anamosity towards some 2 door owners as they feel looked down upon as though those with the 2 doors are a bit more posh. Theres nothing worse than your car looked down upon as its got two extra doors.

 

In the end it doesnt matter weather its got 2 doors, 4 doors, van or estate its the same car, the same bits bolt on, it does the same job, looks the same and it shouldnt spoil what every old ford owner has in common.

 

Personally I dont give a fig what its got behind the wings. its an escort and thats it. When I wanted to get one I didnt care how many doors it had as i just wanted an escort and thats what i got.

 

But then some people seem to hate escort owners in general for the price of the cars and that they are the most popular old ford of them all....they arent necesserily better but they are the one that everyone remembers vividly for their motorsport traits and lets face it....back in the 80s every tom, dick, harry and his dog had an escort and more people will remember that and possibly want to relive their dream.....this may link into the 2 door thing as the 2 doors were used for motorsport and cheaper to buy when new so there were more of them and thus more people owned 2 doors than 4...and everyone always wants one 'like they had when they were a lad'.

i agree with all the statements above, i've had people walk striaght past my car at shows because, and i quote "its got too many doors", yet if they asked a question they'd find out that a 4 door can be just as much fun as a 2 door, mines quicker now than a few RS2000's round my area, but on the other hand, alot of 2 door owners have a good chat because they had a 4 door and it brings back memories. i bought a 4 door cause i always have people gettin in and out, just couldnt be arsed lettin them out all the time, and our lass was sick of me looking down the tops of the girls as they get out the back, haha

me my self am going to get another mk2 dorchester later in the year,has i like them and i need a bigger car,they are the only 7 seater you can get with a large boot to cater for 5 kid's a pushchair and shopping but that is my choice and il probably paint it some wacky colour also my choice,
