IIRC - it's OK provided you are driving to a pre-arranged appointment at your nearest MoT station. Similarly, you can drive back again - even if the car fails it's MoT (so long as it's not considered by the tester to be too dangerous to be on the road).

Yep to and from an MOT is 100% fine. I have done it loads of times no problem, mind you my MOT station is only about 5-6 miles away.

Only 5-6 miles away!! I managed a rolling burnout from my house to the MOT shop :lol::lol:

So what are you saying? You live 2 doors up from the station or you had no tread left whatsoever by the time you got there??

Just in case anyone else reads this .... you are allowed to drive to an m.o.t station without an m.o.t BUT this does not make you exempt from the law ie it is at your discresion !! if you are stopped by the old bill and found to have a defect on your vehicle you can be prosected for it . As for tax obviously you need an m.o.t to get it in the first place ... only way around that is to borrow some trade plates ... hope thats of help

Isn't that what we all do? Get the road tax before the MOT expires? As long as there is a valid MOT the day the tax comes in, you can get road tax.

Well doh yes but what iam saying is my road tax runs out quite a good bit before my mot expires due to the car being an import and the way the dates worked out, i wasnt trying to say my cars special :lol:

But as per usual you have to jump in to have a chip or a dig at someone, but when roles are reversed its unacceptable

Oh really? When does that happen then? You have obviously thought I am having a go, which is not the case.

Certainley seemed it.

HRH iam a always chilly i stay in scotland

thanks, i've gotta take it to Kwik fit to get an MOT, thats the only localish place with space before CF,

the car passed last year after 11 years off the road with no problems, it done 500 miles since then but i had to change the engine etc so hope its still ok.

the only completely legal way is to get it trailered , tho i myself have driven to the station without an m.o.t. and never had trouble ... but think at the end of the day its mostly down to how good a mood old plods in :D , and if they did decide to do you then i think they would be being a bit harsh ! .... but thats the law for you !!
