puddy Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 Was it just me , or was any one else staggered/disgusted at what had happened to that beautiful blue/silver yb powered 105e built a few years ago. It was on the c/f stand absolutely decimated and over engineered by the present owner who reputedly is gonna do 250k on it ! The only things left recognisable from the original show stopping car were the roof and pillars and some of the rear wings, fronts for sale . All of this is imho of course . puddy
Admin Vista Posted June 1, 2009 Admin Report Posted June 1, 2009 Didn't see it, got any pics? It's his car though so if that's what he wants to do with it then who am I to judge? You've had yours a long time haven't you? How much have you done to it over the years and how much do you think your expenditure would add up to?
cortinadale Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 i see it, thought it were quite cool!!! i was disgusted at the sierras, focuses new festas and scorpios tho!!!

You've had yours a long time haven't you? How much have you done to it over the years and how much do you think your expenditure would add up to? I have owned my car 21 years, paid 135.00 for it to save it from the scrappy in 1988, what does that have to do with the thread title ? 'Too much money and no love of osf's....... ' Even over 21 years I have not spent a quarter of that all told . puddy
richie_stix Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 I think I'm inclined to agree with Vista... his car his money, who cares? I mean in your sig i see a side exhaust, to some that would be a disgrace to an old cortina... blah blah blah? thats just my opinion, you are entitled to yours too... personally i like a modified motor as much as a concourse motor, but if i won it i would modify it.

It's the only option for some owners.
puddy Posted June 1, 2009 Author Report Posted June 1, 2009 I think you boys are missing the point of this thread, I did not say he should not be allowed to do what he likes with it, I was stating that it was morally wrong if you truly love osf's. (IMHO) Obviously if you had never seen the car in its original glory, you would not know what I meant anyway. puddy

GJUK Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 Was this the Blue 105e with no floor pans and the epic twin exhausts out the back? Jon
puddy Posted June 1, 2009 Author Report Posted June 1, 2009 Was this the Blue 105e with no floor pans and the epic twin exhausts out the back? Jon Yep, used to look like this.......... I always thought of it as the 105e version of darran moss's jaw dropping mk2 escort ! puddy
Admin Vista Posted June 1, 2009 Admin Report Posted June 1, 2009 That does look nice, what does he plan to do to it then? I saw a metallic red arched anglia with a silver roof and YB install up at CF at the weekend it looked stunning.
tazrocks88 Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 is that the 1 there was nothing much left of but an engine roof and 2 wacking great pipes out the rear? what a crazy thing 2 do! each 2 there own i spose
puddy Posted June 1, 2009 Author Report Posted June 1, 2009 That does look nice, what does he plan to do to it then? I saw a metallic red arched anglia with a silver roof and YB install up at CF at the weekend it looked stunning. Errrrrrrrrr, this......... And you can just see the remains of the rear quarter over the capri.. puddy
tazrocks88 Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 ok that confirms it why do that 2 such a lovely car surly u would buy a rusty shit 1
Admin Vista Posted June 1, 2009 Admin Report Posted June 1, 2009 Umm errrrr I shall stay diplomatically silent. What's his reason for chopping it up so much? What does he plan to do with it?
NeilT Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 his car and he can do what he likes with it imho and thats is some arwsome engineering but it dose a wast of a very good shell though
Admin Mk2Jo Posted June 1, 2009 Admin Report Posted June 1, 2009 I think it's up to him what he does to his car Each to their own
Mexico Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 should be one hell of a car when its done tho right? lol
FredTransit Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 Sorry but that's just . I saw the car and though hmmm, not my taste but OK, but seeing the before shots OMFG!! Why do that to a stunning car? Why not just buy a shell?
garyv6100e Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 If you plan to do that amount of work why bother wrecking such a good shell when there are plenty of rust boxes around , i like what he has done but it does seem a waste of what was a great car imo
Retromotorsport Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 Ive said to many a cars owner, ' if its taxed and MOT'ed but standard, sell it to build the modified car ' Standard clean car, could be worth 10k ... nothing is going to be used from it, so sell and buy another shell .. whats left pays for the shell to be built .. basicly you get a free shell build. that said, it is always down to the owner what they do with thier car,
bortaf Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 I perferd it as it was but then i'm not really a fan of pro street TBH, having said that i really preferd it when it was even more standard but then again i'm not a fan of straying too far from a factory job at all either
Conor Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 I think you boys are missing the point of this thread, I did not say he should not be allowed to do what he likes with it, I was stating that it was morally wrong if you truly love osf's. (IMHO) In that case doesn't it then also apply that it's morally wrong to everyone running YB Turbo'd stuff, Zetec, Duratec, XE redtops, BOA/BOB cosworths, 4 pot Brembo/whatever brake conversions, rear discs, coilover conversions, TranX/Quaife axles/gearboxes, 5 linking and everything else that wasn't done when they were competing in the 70's and 80's? Makes it hellishly restrictive though and cars like Darrens MK1 wouldn't exist on here for a start and neither would a huge amount of the OSF tin that went up the strip yesterday.
Conor Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 Umm errrrr I shall stay diplomatically silent. What's his reason for chopping it up so much? What does he plan to do with it? Judging by the fact he's turning it into a spaceframed racer, hillclimb, track racing or drag racing.
