I hit a wall  but the car decided that wasn't enough so the strut bent back forcing the wheel (minus rim & tyre) up into the drivers footwell. I had no brakes & the throttle pedal was jammed flat out out in 2nd... travelled about 20ft along the wall untill It finally stopped  the wing was about 10 feet behind the car pinned between a sign post & the wall about 4ft off the ground

(the windscreen & roof damage was from it being picked up off the low loader with a grab)

i had a mishap down a country lane. i had new tires on my mk2 escort and it was really dry down the lane. the road went from tarmac to dry mud and the backend flung out on drivers side, tried to correct it and i hit a bank of mud and stone, was really gutted as it was my 1st accident and 1st mk2 escort

Not an old ford. But its bad enough that i think youll forgive me.

I was 18, Been driving a couple of months. Earlier on that day the thottle cable had gotten stuck but all i did was pump the pedal and it freed up then ignored it. It was 11 at night in june. Id just been in tesco to get my mum some teabags and me some juice for work in the morning. Hit a concrete lampost (which then snapped and fell across the bonnet.. Apparently i was stumbling in the middle of the road with claret all over me gouges down my arm and across my head and a dislocated hip. I dont remember the actual Point of impact but i remember a feeling of panic and "oh fook" then i sort of came out of shock in the back of an ambulance on a back board with a neck brace staring up at this hot blond paramedic.

My sisters friend is a police doris and she spoke to the person from traffic who attended. And he told her that in 25 years of attending RTAs he had never seen such a horrific accident and somone survive. Yes i have a lot to be thankful for........

I've had a few crashes in my first couple of years of driving - one where I fell asleep at the wheel  but I never took my own photos as I didn't want to be reminded...!

They were all my fault as well, but I do feel (touch wood) that I'm a better driver now because of the crashes... maybe.

From those pictures theres 2 bits of advice ....

1 .. dont panic (hard to do i know )

2.. dont panic (hard to when its still all going wrong)

Throttles stuck, .... clutch, engine may blow but clutch then key do not remove the key and turn ignition straight back on again ..

Cornering and theres something in the road ... Try to steer round it.. never stand on the brakes of a NON ABS car mid turn, you will crash, and remember the best ABS is the one in your head..it controlls the brakes better than ABS with practice, and is something that you should all do. Instead of trying to get the arse end out on a quiet night, practice braking.

Coming up to a roundabout .. quiet area, no houses etc, hit the brakes hard, before they lock up liftt off, go back on hard, again just as they lock .. lift off, and again until you stop.. you can do this at the same point everytime you come up to the roundabout ..pick a sign or a post, thats the start, keep a mental note of where you stop. You should see your stopping distance come down . But dont do this with your mates behind or around yo..and dont, just because your going to do a stop, speed up, stick to the limits, its not the speed your doing thats important, its the ability to know when you will lock up, and being able to lift.

When you need it, you can dab the brakes, lift and steer.. dab ..lift and steer. As locked front wheels wont steer, and over balancing the car will turn it around ... and thats not good.

Remeber, the quickest and safest drivers are the ones who can stop a car.

More overtaking is done under braking in a race than powering past on a straight... and even then, its because the car was stopped, turned in and accelerated better than the one thats passed on the straight.
