4 door mk2 into 2 door mk2 ?

Ok, so it sounds a bit far fetched but you could get a split mint 4 door escort, a grinder and a couple of 2 door quarters, B pillars and doors and im sure that after some imagination and a bulk purchase of welding wire, you'd have a mk2 2 door ?

Or is this idea just a bit too daft ? I'll get me coat

if its a rotten shell then i would say go for it but if its a solid one then i would say keep it as a 4 door, just my opinion not everyones

 

i wouldnt do it myself (probably as it would end up with different sized holes for the doors on either side ) but theres nothing to stop you (to my knowledge) if you wanted too.

As said, your car your rules. Although Im not sure what the DVLA/VOSA would say, you'd probably find you end up with a Q plate becasue of the altered monoque

Theres nowt wrong with a 4dr by the way, they're positively practical

should check with zetecmk2 mate. he converted his four door mk2 cortina to two door.

 

he done a resto thread on here, have a look will give you an idea of the fab work needed.....theres alot

 

but i believe the method he used was the easiest or so he said but either him or Hellblue who done the same conversion would be the ones to ask

a bloke down the road from me has converted his mk1 4door into a 2door.

I put complete rear quarters on my mk1 & it would'nt of been alot of work to cut the b-pillars & move it all about,but it was already a 2 door so why mess with perfection

Ive done this to a MK2 and a MK1 in years gone by, easy when you have the doner car, contacted DVLA kepped the original reg number ,

 

Just remember the roof does need changing aswell, slightly different roof angle, i found this out the hard way
