A friend of mine just bought a 540i auto from auction which he paid about £500 for. He's putting the 4.4 litre all aluminium V8 in his 3 sieries coupe with an m5 gearbox. Using a custom exhaust and a chip hes expecting over 350 lb/ft of torque and 280 bhp.

Hes broken the rest of the car and still made a profit so the engine is free plus hes got money from it! Essentially hes got far more power, better relaibility and less wieght than a cossie yb or boa. Oh and theres the noise....

Has this ever been done into an old skool ford? I saw a thread recently on BMW engined old fords and there was about 1 picture. Gotta be some more?

There is a project thread on here somewhere where someone is fitting a V8 BMW M60 engine into a mk2 RS2. I haven't seen the thread updated inn a long time though

I seem to remember having a conversation with Neil @ NTS about this sort of thing and him saying that he'd looked into it himself but there might be a big issue with the sumps as there the wrong way round for our OSF cross members. I'm sure with a bit of thought tho that it was possible.

i am going to put a 2.5 6pot in the other halfs 105e

Good luck with that !!

Anyone that came to the last Ashford meet will have seen the black BMW powered Capri, its tight in the Capri's engine bay, let alone an Anglia!!

i've wanted to fit a 3.5 6 pot into a capri for a few years now,

i've got a capri but no skills or money to do it,

the 3.5 was 286 bhp standard, im sure with a better exhaust etc should be pushing 300 then.

its a great idea and alot of power for not much money + the engine are easily avaliable.
