Fiesta Steve Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 I can remember about 10 or 15 years ago there was an artical in Classic Ford magazine where a company was offering a brake upgrade kit for the Capri using parts from a more modern Granada if I remember correctly. Does anyone remember the artical or know anything about the conversion ? I would have the mag somewhere but would be a mission to find it right now. Was the conversion any good ? What parts are needed ? Will it fit an Escort ?
Admin Vista Posted September 5, 2009 Admin Report Posted September 5, 2009 Would this be what you're talking about? 2.8 Mk2 granny calipers (larger M16F caliper with more pad) with capri vented discs or granny 2.3/P100 with solids. Cheap easy and no need to alter the master cylinder cos the piston size is the same Not the greatest upgrade btu as i said cheap and easy Also under discussion here: http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... highlight=
Fiesta Steve Posted September 5, 2009 Author Report Posted September 5, 2009 Thank you Scott I have a 2 litre Granada for spares, it's jelly mould shape, Mk3 ?? I was wondering if I could utilise the brakes off of that for my Escort. I currently have no brakes at all so I have to start somewhere. The Granada has good brakes, was on the road until yesterday when I pulled its pinto out
BIG G Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 go on the capri club international site as they sell um
emu Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 caprisport do stuff using granada and mondeo calipers http://www.caprisport.com/
Anglia68 Posted September 5, 2009 Report Posted September 5, 2009 I don't see why you can't convert your Escort struts to Granada discs and calipers. I've just converted the Mk2 Cortina struts on my Anglia to accept Series 2 aRSe Turbo discs and M*ndeo calipers which I think are of similar size to the Granadas. They fit inside 7x13" wheels but only just. Ignore the wooden caliper bracket,it was just used as a pattern for the steel ones.
Fiesta Steve Posted September 6, 2009 Author Report Posted September 6, 2009 Thanks Anglia68 I think I will remove the front discs and calipers from the advice I've been given. Making a steel bracket will be easy for me to do and a bit of machine work is not the end of the world either.
