Retro-gone. Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 i know some of us do and some of us dont, ive owned my capri 13 years, for the 1st 11 years it was my everday car, summer or winter, sunshine or snowfall, last year , since the resto ive decided its a summer car only, and as im keeping it i want it to keep looking its best. il just use the wifes car in winter instead il prob pop the capri motor out and repaint it, i dont like it yellow, although ive got 2 motorcycles to restore through winter too! so who does what with thier OSF's in the winter months?
vibrating_Cake Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 drive it! sideways! mines staying on the road, although its being re-sprayed in a week.... its still stayin on the road all winter!
Stu_B Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 I'll be using my Anglia as the Cortina is hogging the garage. It's not my Daily though so I don't need to rely on it or use it in the pissing rain. I'll treat it to some waxoil & buy a decent cover in the next week or so though
Mad Mex Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Mines staying on the road....proper daily over 1000 miles a month
Admin Vista Posted October 5, 2009 Admin Report Posted October 5, 2009 I was going to hide mine away this winter but having just taxed it again I guess I won't be. I figure that the extra £85 for 12 months tax over 6 is worth it for the few clear dry days, as I still have to pay to insure it and MOT it for 12 months at a time so if I only use it for 6 I'm not getting very good value for money eh?
escort21 Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 This year for the first time its gonna be avoiding the salt
Yeomans22 Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 capri is sorn atm, and escort tax expires december 1st, i will use it till then, and then use the capri after that. although my dad said he will go halves on tax for the escort, so i might have them both about this winter
cortinamike77 Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Mine is comming off the road very soon, it's only the weekend toy but dont fancy getting it covered in road salt and the usual winter blues! Means I have to use the bloody Micra as my daily though
OldskoolSue Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 use mine all year round too and love every minute of it regardless of the weather
garyv6100e Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 I did use mine through the winter last year but i have got quite a few things to do on it so after Boxhill it is coming of the road
BIGKEV Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 I would use mine in all weather if I could afford it so its off the road - will give it a good once over then wrap it up/ chain it up and then feed the 18 Rottweilers that surround it so they will be hungry for theiving pikeys
mk1mexico Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 I can only put 12 months tax on my Escort. Thanks Gordon Showing signs of all year driving now though, needs a bit of work. Granada is my true Daily at the moment so that will be on the road all the time i own it.
RossMK2 Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 im SORN ing mine of the road when weather goes bad and claiming tax back
Trevmk3 Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 mine is already off the road but that is because it needs welding ect doing to it, else i would keep it on the road for the odd night drive or weekend drive out and for playing in the snow
Noodles Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Mines gonna be off road twice once to get paint done and again to fit better head.
D4N Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Mines coming off the road for winter and engine out MK1 off the road already. Time for the BM to hit the rallys
stevepeanut Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 for the first time ever I am taking mine off the road for winter, I taxed it last year, and hardly ever used it. I got my pickup truck, 3 motorbikes, and our lasses car, so its just a waste of money to tax it.
Lukey Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 summer or winter I havent used my very bloody much this year!!!
Savvi Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 I'd like to get something on the road, if i ever get it done the estate will be taxed and used.
rsdaz Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 mine doesn't come out in bad weather but i keep it taxed just incase there's a nice day.
Badgerman85 Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 mine will go off road on the 31st of this month, then its 6 months of clio driving
jajoinery Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 my capper is off road come end of month.. got my van for everyday use.. plan is to drop in the 2.9 i just stripped and rebuilt over winter
escort21 Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 I don't give a shit about the weather....its the salt i do care about...gets in everywhere and corrodes everything
Retro-gone. Posted October 6, 2009 Author Report Posted October 6, 2009 thats exactly it, the salt, here on the coast its tenfold to inland !
