yeah i think i saw a pic of a fibre glass one

i wonder just how much lighter that'd be?

and then how much lighter would a carbon fibre one be?

and when can i win the lottery to enjoy said lightening benefits

TBH I doubt it would be that much lighter out of carbon fibre than it already would be out of fibre glass.

I bet a lot of fibre glass is used in those shells though. I've seen the mini ones and they have floors over an inch thick!!!!

So maybe a carbon fibre shell could be really light and strong if the right resins are used. I would hate to think of the cost in making the moulds and the assembly costs!! So if you're a lottery winner then step on up and we'll make one  Na we'd need a massive warehouse to keep the moulds flat (on trollies) and to assemble it. although if someone wanted to buy those for us as well.......

Having said that it just wouldn't be worth it if no other weight saving items are used in the axle and engine etc. For example my vulcan xflow alloy rocker cover weighed over a 1kg and my carbon one which was only a prototype weighs 300g and 150g of that was the alloy filler neck, which the new ones won't have :D so they should weigh about 150g ish. So imagine how light you could make the whole car

happy to provide a pair FOC if it helps

I seriously think that some Carbon Mk3 Capri parts will go down very well.

Cool if you can send them over that would be great, we've got so much on the go it's unreal :D are they standard covers? Send me a pm and we'll go from there.

how much for a capri bonnet
very

Ummm just of the top of my head it would be somewhere near £400 as its a bit bigger than mk1 fiesta bonnet and that is coming in at around £350

Are these parts prepreg and autoclaved or cold epoxy layups,

Ive beeen thinking about the Fiesta spoiler layup problems with the finish. what about paint them in Hibuild with a LOT of plasticiser[sp] that may allow you to flat it off without the paint breaking away??

Im thinking about a boot skin for my cortina, Ive made stuff before in carbon using Epoxy resin, but never tried anything as big as a skin in carbon,
