Bit of history, as a few of you know me, over the past two years nearly, i have been battling demons from at least three directions, namely food, alcohol, and smoking, being the worst three.

As of 1st January 2008,I was weighing in at nearly 20.5 Stone, smoked 20(at least) cigarettes a day,was drinking heavily at least twice a week and having a drink on most evenings, either socially or just sat in front of the TV.

After taking on a 30 year Mortgage last year, and with the help of my ever supportive lady friend, i decided to do something about my lifestyle as i realised carrying on the way i was i probably wouldnt be seeing mortgage free life again.

So as of today, its been over 13 months since i had a cigarette (or a J for that matter) i have drastically cut down the drink, I dont drink in the house and maybe only having a night in the pub as a treat every 5-6 weeks or so, and im weighing in at 16.8 Stone :D:D

Im massively proud of myself, and dont want any sympathy votes, (thats not why im posting this) although it increases my motivation to carry on, reading peoples replies.

So in May next year i have set myself an aim of completing this:

A gruelling 40 mile walk through my local territory all for Charity

Bearing in mind i used to be knackered after climbing the stairs, its going to be a massive acheivement for me.

The forms arent out yet (January) but when they are i will be signing up and looking for some friends to do it with, and i will expect a charity donation from everyone of you people in my computer, to a great cause.

Thanks for reading my little heart to heart with OSF and i will be back wanting your money in the new year :thumbsup:

Forgot to add if anybody fancies joining up with me feel free!!

Nope didnt think so

not many people do try to change things round, but well done mate

just train for the walk, will be a challenge

Thanks guys, will have some serious training to do yes, i have been walking over the summer, the most i have done is 10 miles so a bit to go yet.

Took me two and a half hours to do that, so 40 miles at the same pace (doubtful) i would be looking at over 10 hours not factoring in breaks and comfort stops etc
