Only think about going Atlas if you are going to be fitting wide wheels mate. It will be a lot of hassle for no real point. Plenty of people are using English axles with well over 200BHP.

Do you think standard halfshafts will hold with a 200bhp engine for a roadcar?

Yes, dependent on how wide your tyres are and whether you have an lsd fitted

Reason they go for the mk1 3ltr capri axle is cos when you narrow the axle you can trim the shafts down enough to make the axle 48,5" to save you buying a 2 piece shaft kit.

if you buy any atlas it can be shortened to what ever length you want with a 2 piece kit. My mate made an atlas 47" so it would go under his mk1 escort arches with 8" rims and cleared with no problems.

But when at rally day this year i found a guy there called Geoff skitt engineering who will cut your std atlas shafts to length you want and re spline them for about £60 each which is a massive saving

I got another 3.77 diff ready to be fitted instead

Would i need just the gasket or some sealer inbetween the axle and diff?

I'd say gasket + gasket sealer. Better safe than sorry!
