Tuomas Posted May 6, 2010 Author Report Posted May 6, 2010 I have been polishing the car, or i left the outside to professional. Many small details have been improved and it looks at its best now, so i have to put some pictures again.. I put some show pictures too. (Not me in the picture)
tommurphy73 Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 How does the peter Lloyd system sound on the car. Is it acceptable for daily driving? Was there any performance gain? Tom
Tuomas Posted June 1, 2010 Author Report Posted June 1, 2010 How does the peter Lloyd system sound on the car. Is it acceptable for daily driving? Was there any performance gain? Tom Sorry havent notised your question. It makes some noise yes, but its not extremely loud. It might bother if you are using car every day. I like the exhaust rumble it makes when chancing to lower gears. It sounds like a rally car, just sounds. Not sure about the performance gains. More noise= feels faster?
Tuomas Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 What do you think of these wheels, better or not comparing to the 13" wheels? Rubbers are litle too high profile. Dont have full set of them, so if someone have one or two laying around i would be interested..
vibrating_Cake Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 tbh, i think 15's look small on a capri, ive got 195/45r15's on these wheels, for tyre rubber comparison
danny69 Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 I love your car Tuomas!! I used to have a Jade green Mk 2 3.0s and yours brings those memories flooding back. Best car I ever owned. If I had come across one the same as yours when I was looking a couple of years ago I would have have snapped it up. I can picture it with Mk2 "S" stripes, black mirrors and window trim and also black bumpers. "S" front spoiler and lowered a couple of inches. Get yourself a 6 clock dash for it too! Sorry if I got carried away, it is your car after all.
evil knievel Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 I think it's cool the way it is, clean cut.
Tuomas Posted June 22, 2010 Author Report Posted June 22, 2010 I love your car Tuomas!! I used to have a Jade green Mk 2 3.0s and yours brings those memories flooding back. Best car I ever owned. Sorry if I got carried away, it is your car after all. Thanks for your comments. I would like the S front spoiler and lowering will be done when i star to work on the suspension. Cromework is foultless, so that is staying. 6 clock dash would be nice but i have to source that from Germany because of the Km/h and LHD.. Im trying to find 2.8i front anti roll bar (24mm) and brackets to the body, because they are different angle than standard ones. No one on the Ebay.uk seems to be interested in shipping those.. Its difficult part to ship, but i cant come there to collect them.. If someone would have one laying around in good condition (not used as towing bar) and would be willing to put it on Ebay and shipping it to Finland that would be great. We dont have 2,8i Capris here, so those parts have to be sourced from UK.
Tuomas Posted January 4, 2011 Author Report Posted January 4, 2011 Some update to this. Have found the anti roll bar on ebay.uk finally 2,8i anti rol bars (front and rear) are not in the car yet, because i need to order polyurethan bushes for the whole suspension. Im going to put them at the same time whit upgraded front brakes. Also lowering blocks/springs and new shocks have not been ordered.. I have been fighting whit the rot worm recently: Floor is now fixed and interior is back on, so im pleased whit that.
brettp Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 really like this colours the nuts like the wheels too just needs lowering a bit i put 16s on mine and think they look a bit big
Yeomans22 Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 from the outside you wonld never think the floors were in a bad way, good job on repairs, and a great looking capri.
Tuomas Posted January 4, 2011 Author Report Posted January 4, 2011 from the outside you wonld never think the floors were in a bad way, good job on repairs, and a great looking capri. Thanks for the comments. The condition of the floor came litle suprise to me too, as underneath it looked fine. Altought i removed the carpet a year ago to clean it and i notised then that some repairs need to be done. It past its anual inspection whit no complains whit that much rot... Inspector was kind to old car and didnt knock the floors too hard. Some bad old repairs that i cut out + some new holes that have been hiding... Water was leaking several places to the interior/under the carpet causing this. Now it shouldnt take rain water in as i fixed those leaking areas. I was in the car when the interior was out, and my wife was spraying water whit garden hose over the car so i could be sure where it was leaking and after repairs same thing again to check the leaks. I used etching primer to the whole cleaned floor and 2 component paint for the black top coat, so i hope it stays in good condition.
Tuomas Posted February 24, 2011 Author Report Posted February 24, 2011 Now i have started the suspension update. Parts have been sandblasted, and in the pictures whit etching primer on. I have ordered some new suspension components: Im working on the rear first, and when thats done i start to take the front apart. I need to upgrade to bigger brakes and want to install LSD, but those have to wait for now. I have bought donor car (modern plastic) whit +200Hp 24v injection V6 engine and 5 speed manual gearbox. Not sure will those fit in, but i will try. Engine swap have to wait for summer as i have to do it outside. I would also need injection model fuel tank, and V6 models rear brake backplates to take wider drums and shoes. Those are realy hard to find here, so i maybe have to cut the original fuel tank to modify it for the injection use. For the brakes i have to do something before the engine swap, because law says here that i have to upgrade brakes to 2,8i/Werksturbo spec or better if im going to put bigger engine in. Rear disc brakes is one option.
Tuomas Posted March 30, 2011 Author Report Posted March 30, 2011 Some more pictures on the suspension update progress: Stainless bits machined to hold the lowering block in place. Some of the painted parts: Rear end coming together. Its sitting quite low now... Removed the front suspension. Car is having injection engine, so this unfinished bit of stainless steel is going to replace original tank sender hatch in the tank. Also some baffle walls are coming in to the tank. It would be easyer if we only have those injection tanks here... Im going to take better pictures of the suspension when its done, i have so small garage that its quite difficult right now. Current situation is that fuel tank is at my mates work where he is working on the injection changes and rust holes. Rear suspension is allmost ready just waiting some roll bar bushes to arrive from Rally Design. Front suspension legs are at sandblasters. New Gaz shocks and new lowering springs are ready to go in whit V6 models vented brake discs and Volvo 240 4 pot brake calibers. After the suspension and fuel tank changes are ready im going to get it MOT:ted and then the engine goes out and in goes something that might be little different (some of you may not like).. is small video of me driving home from work last year. I welded fresh steel to the floor after work on several days and i needed to get home in the evening every day whit capri..
sidewaysrob Posted March 31, 2011 Report Posted March 31, 2011 Thats a very tidy mk2 I like It a lot!
Tuomas Posted June 9, 2012 Author Report Posted June 9, 2012 Over a year since my last post. Suspension is now ready, and its low. When suspension was ready, it didnt take long before the engine was out... New engine and gearbox is in, but it needs a lot of work before its running again. More to that in the future... I have been doing other cars lately, but i will try to focus this in the near future.
BaileyMex Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 Great post bud love the video of the car driving with the hole in the floor
