Roo-ster Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 you know when winters here when you have to de-ice the inside and out of your car in the mornings, yup! its officially King cold again... whats it been like for other peeps?
Admin Mk2Jo Posted December 1, 2009 Admin Report Posted December 1, 2009 Yep, -1ºC and frost on the car down here in North Hampshire But at least it is sunny ... rather have frost and sun than rain and cloud
GT_lenny Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 bloody freezin here too got to minus 5 last night and i'm sure its not got any warmer yet
2litreScapri Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Yep, locks were frozen solid on the Capper this morning! Sprayed de-icer in the locks, bit of hot water, wouldn't turn. Got in passenger side, went to pull handle on drivers door, stuck out, thought I'd broken it! At least starting was a little easier!
Roo-ster Posted December 1, 2009 Author Report Posted December 1, 2009 At least starting was a little easier! mine wasn't, i think my starter motor shagged itself in the night
OldskoolSue Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 We had a hard frost, the gritter where out last night and now i have a flat battery
Mrs O/H/C Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 All ok here in Cornwall .. Lead foot sprayed night before de-icer as they said it might get to -3 No ice this morning, but also no bl**dy rain !

mk14dr Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Took 15mins to scrape and warm the car this morning, for a 7min/3mile drive to work. It started a little better than it has been doing though, might be something to do with the new starter, new solenoid and a huge battery (diesel transit )
RossMK2 Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 i stayed in the warm will heated screens did the work on my mums car b4 school

Trevmk3 Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 i was out scrapping the windows at 5:50 this morning, still not cold enough for a jumper or coat though, t-shirt is warm enough still as its pretty mild the main road through the town had a huge patch of ice where water runs out of a 25ft high wall only 100yards from where they kept the grit up until 8 months ago
Fiesta Steve Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 It was lovely in my Range Rover with heated seats/steering wheel/windsceerns etc I find boiling water melts the ice both sides of the windsceen, works a treat People have been telling me forever that it'll smash the sceen. Old wives tale I rekon as it hasn't happened yet !

Old wives tale I rekon as it hasn't happened yet ! I was lovely and warm in my Volvo. The heaters in the old 80s Volvos are like saunas!....i honestly dont know how people drive old fords around all year...i couldnt do it. A guy my dad worked with did that. Freezing snowy sunday morning at about 7am and this guy decides to wash his car. fills the bucket to the brim with BOILING water and wanders out to his car. (my dad hated this guy so just sniggered as he knew what was going to happen) He pulls back the bucket and throws the entire lot over the front os his car.....BANG!....windscreen gone
Ste-V Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Was nice and icy this morning up in Blackpool, first icy morning.. Capri is at work at the moment so jumped in a borrowed Toyota Lucida which fired up straight away However, although it was the first icy morning, not as cold as some of the last few days
