badchild Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 Feckin arseholes I work for, long story short I got written warning for taking scrap that me and my work mates were told was alright to take by the site manager to the scrap yard in a 9 tonne dumper. There was 4 of us involved and only two of us were 'reprimanded' yet I'm the only one to get a written warning, for doing nothing wrong may I add Warnings full of mistakes too, threating me about my job and it wasn't handed to me personally, pissed off at work at the min I feel like going on a wrecking spree costing them money through 'accidental' mistakes. That's my rant over for a min anyway, feckin barstewards
Pipster007 Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 Sounds like they are going for constuctive dismissal. Do they not like you for some reason????? Have you rubbed them up the wrong way????? Are they looking to downsize their staff numbers???????
Admin Vista Posted December 13, 2009 Admin Report Posted December 13, 2009 Hmmm, the site manager may have said it was OK but what is company policy on scrap? Did the site manager go on record as having told you it was ok to take it? My previous company considered removal of scrap as theft as they lost revenue from not scrapping it themselves.
badchild Posted December 14, 2009 Author Report Posted December 14, 2009 Yeah the site manager said it was ok. I work for a sub-contractor though and the site manager works for the original contractor who got the job in the first place so he can't even back me up on it because whatever he says to my boss has no effect. I don't get on with one wee weasel at work and now he's marrying the boss my jobs got tougher, I think it's him filling her head with the brown stuff tbh because I've had a few run-ins with him before. Oh yeah I got a verbal warning through a text message as well if that makes any sense, because it didn't to me I think they just don't want me there, they see me as a thorn in their side because I speak my mind with them
BaileyMex Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Dont do anything rash mate, they might be looking for you to blow up and give them reason to let you go or something? Not just before xmas mate that would be a bummer
BIGKEV Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 I dont play the poitics either - can work to your disadvantage though. one day in your next job you will look back and laugh. because the joker will be buried under a motorway
SmokeEm Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 Neilther warning is worth the paper its written on mate coz the law states you MUST give the employee 24hrs WRITTEN notice of their intention to hold as discliplinary interview with you. You must also be told that you have a right to a witness to be present and that you have 7 days within which to appeal. Provided you keep the letter and make a note of all dates etc, if they sacked you, you'd have a good case for constructive dismissal
