bomber1 Posted December 29, 2009 Report Posted December 29, 2009 same as above done mine in homebase car park after the screen went drove down to escort tec picked up a new screen then went to home base got some cord refitted screen 10mins. 20 mins with screwdriver fitting silver insert. my advice is grease the string and buy a proper insert fitting tool

flyingbanana Posted December 29, 2009 Author Report Posted December 29, 2009 yes i have....trying to get it done outside before was not ideal and i wasnt quite happy with it and being stopped by the council didnt help............so i swolled my pride and got it done in a body shop so its now in one colour....first time of 11years of ownership just clued the roof lining into day and finsh that off tomorrow then get windows back in couple of pics from last week all the hard work is finally paying off

flyingbanana Posted December 29, 2009 Author Report Posted December 29, 2009 its not daytona.....i think its a dull yellow so i went for alfa romeo yellow 258A if i recall correctly............how much would you pay for a respray?.....be good to see if i paid too much or got a good deal

Thanking you, Jon its a tool that spreads the rubber open and it has a wheel on it that pushes the window strip down and inserts it into the rubber at the same time

Thanking you, Jon its a tool that spreads the rubber open and it has a wheel on it that pushes the window strip down and inserts it into the rubber at the same time there are 3 different sizes of tool, if my memory is correct its the medium for fitting osf inserts

Ever done a vw camper (surf bus) w/screen. , I swear to god they make the glass just that little bit bigger than the hole thats cos when you take old one out the rust makes roof collapse! used to work for the RAC who made thier own screens and were some shocking fits and those shite rejel trims!
