turnover Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 who cares its what the owner prefers and what there budget is,and how much performance they want, you can make any engine make any car go quick depends on how deep your pockets are personal preference who ever you are
mex255l Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 Only my opinion, Cosworth turbo and N/A, is the best engine full stop for any RWD ford!!!Best of both worlds if you can have both Here here! all that agree say i.

Zetec Turbo mk3 Capri, full int, all steel body 9.73 that doesnt count thats Malta times and Ed quickest pinto is Jayson Elvy, please note Jaysons pinto has a help from nitrous but so does Kev Warn not by any means de-crediting Andy as he is not far behind at all with no gas and a bit more weight
Mr Sam Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 and to sum it all up i dont think the cossie pinto or crossflow have had thier day by any means!!! its all down to personal preferance, how fast you want to go and how deep your pockets are for me its all about and old skool dizzy sparker carb fed motor kicking the shit out a computer controled jap motor on the strip
turnover Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 think you will find terry davis has fastest escort cos turbo 10.0 and dalcos has ran 10.2 but both with nos
Mr Sam Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 theres a few cossie powered escort 'funny cars' running sub 10's too isnt there i say funny car as there space framed fiber glassed body things so can only loosly be refered to as an 'escort'
turnover Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 i think there refering to stock body road legal but who knows
Mr Sam Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 point proven though despite its age the cossie is a formidabble engine thats well capeable in keeping up with modern engines and newer technologies

mk1super Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 Your all wrong (awaits abuse) Meet the the xr6 turbo engine 340.0 bhp as standard this has been tweaked. Now someone stick that in a capri
Monkfish Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 that capri is f...king fast any one know if thats road legal time or on slicks ? That's running on slicks, but has run 10s on road legal rubber. It drives to and from the events, carts his family around in it and is, generally speaking, a nutter!
Monkfish Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 And I'd just like to ask... Has the sidevalve had its day? Discuss...

Ah, but do you really think it's a shame? you could be the next one in line for it!
Toby Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 On the post subject. I recon the cossie will never have its day, but there are cheaper options now to a standard cossy. In years gone by people would "borrow" cossy engines for transplanting power into a car, now there's more choice. XE's, Duratecs, Zetec's, Pre-crossflows etc!
