Has anyone thought of the MK1 Focus RS engine for a transplant before??

2.0L Turbo, 212BHP, easliy tuned upto 285BHP

I think alot of people get put off it I believe because it says "Duratec" on the rocker cover, BUT it is infact a ZETEC-E.

Maybe someone on a tight budget, but after turbo power could consider one of those ( seen a couple on ebay before for £600 mark )

Just a thought chaps.

I was not referring to a zetec, i was referring to the BMW M52B28 and the S50B32.

4DOOR-SHERWOOD: No i have not. And i could care less about experiencing the "mighty yb"

rallyesport04: I could care less what deal you got, its still a shitty old yb.

You could care or couldn't?

What are these BMW engines, 4 or 6 cylinder?

6 cylinder, a google search would have told you that.

rallyesport04: I`m quite happy in my E36 BMW.

if your happy in your E36 bmw , then why would you want a cheap mk1 escort for a run around?

Because a mk1 was my first car choice and i could not afford one. I picked up the E36 because it was a cheap decent car. Certainly better than a capri.

I'm suprised theres not more about with this engine, it's a good unit ( only downside is they dont work very well with a atmoshperic dump valve fitted )

A friend of mine had a FRS, had de-cat, milltek exhaust, gen 2 K&N and a bluefin program, 285BHP, easy stuff  , another guy I know of is running one with over 500BHP :D

For me the Cosworth engine is a simple power unit that works well and has such potential in OSF's.

Because of its age and it becoming 'old technology' it inspires me to carry on tuning them. Its part of the attraction to get an old engne producing mental power to keep up with modern products.

Long live the YBT

area six do some cracking deals on zetec engines. 500bhp for 4600, 400bhp for 4000, 300 for 3200.

to me achieving 500bhp for 4600 is really cheap and thats a completely fresh build. and its proven.

i think youd be pushing it to get that much power for that price with a YB

ive read a lot of this post, interesting. i think, if its an osf keep it an osf, unless your building a proper drag motor like kj and harris etc. we all aspire to go faster but most of us have very limited budgets. personaly i love to see a good 711 or pinto doing its stuff, no better sound. its not how much power you have but how you put that power down. more fun screaming a 711 than feathering a monster, on the road anyway. :D
