GT_lenny Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 i'm looking to beef up the brakes on my mk2 tina i've tried some m16 calipers on the "leg" and they fitted perfectly on the standard discs so i'm guessing i can use the 2.8 vented discs with some spaced m16's? i am however open to other suggestions ? oh they need to fit under 13"s and be cheap
Andrade Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 I think you just mentioned the easiest and cheapest solution. Possibly you could try using performance brake pads to boost up the braking a bit more?
sambo Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 What about the tried and tested Princess 4-pots?
5.0S-teve Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 I've got MK2 granada 2.8i calipers on my capri mate, they're a bigger version of the M16 caliper, has a larger pad surface area, so more stopping power. Works a treat, even stopping the 5.0L V8 in my capper
Admin Vista Posted January 21, 2010 Admin Report Posted January 21, 2010 doesn't the mk2 cortina have P16's originally? in which case switching to M16's won't improve your brakes, using vented discs with them will only reduce their susceptibility to brake fade but won't actually improve your brakes. Your need a bigger pad surface area and the tried and tested ways of achieving that on a budget are the two methosd described above, Princess or Mk2 granada calipers. That said, few princess calipers will bolt straight on without an overhaul, the cost of which pushes their price up, especially if they need new pistons.

V8ian Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 Set of 2.8 vents, Granada Calipers, Green Steff pads, Job done!!!!, No need to uprate the master cyl as the pistons are the same size as the 16 series caliper
