mk2harrier Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 i have just been offered a mk2 xr2 that is in storage and has been there for the last 10 years. i havnt had the chance to look at it yet but apparently it was in mint condition when it was left there. the guy said it belonged to his son but he moved out about 10yrs ago so if i make a sensible offer he would sell it for him. my question is what is the going rate for a decent xr2 barn find that doesnt need much for the mot? thanks in advance.
mexman123 Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Not a lot.....Mk1 XR2, possibly £700-£800 ,if its original and unmolested, mk2 with no MOT and in need of work (which it will need if its been standing a long time), i would'nt want to give more than a few hundred quid...Just my opinion, anyone else??
mk2harrier Posted January 26, 2010 Author Report Posted January 26, 2010 thats what i was thinking, dont want to go over £200 if i can. hopefully will be having a look at it this weekend.
mexman123 Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Be a good buy if you can get it for around that, will only go up in value in the future, Mk1 fiestas are beginning to rise a little in value, Mk2's i really dont think they are 'cult classics' yet, but maybe in another 10 years time? Who knows?
mk2harrier Posted January 26, 2010 Author Report Posted January 26, 2010 that my thinking too and they are fun to drive.
bigglesmk2 Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Well if you dont want it http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... p?t=110568 How much it's worth all depends on condintion,if its a minter it's probably worth £400-£500 and if its hanging £200 or less. IMO . Tidy examples with tax, test and history are fetching good money,£1500 +
mk2harrier Posted January 26, 2010 Author Report Posted January 26, 2010 i will let you know how i get on this weekend when i go and have a look at it.
bigglesmk2 Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 If its like this and you get it cheap, you should be a happy bunny http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1987-FORD-FIESTA- ... 25587910fd
faceman Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 you are all right on this one £200 max
mk2harrier Posted January 26, 2010 Author Report Posted January 26, 2010 something like that would be nice. i had one in that colour about 8yrs ago, put a dent in the front wing and then gave it away to make room for a mk2 escort. wish i kept it now as it only cost me £50.
darylc Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 If its like this and you get it cheap, you should be a happy bunny http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1987-FORD-FIESTA- ... 25587910fd WOW that looks mint, I need to start saving money... And i agree that a couple of hundred quid should be enough
5.0S-teve Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 I think It depends really, a few years ago my mate bought an F-reg one that just ( only just ) had T&T, he paid £250 for it and it was a wreck, I mean you could lift both front wings clean off and the boot floor was rotten through But thier values have gone up since then, i'd ( personally ) pay around £700 for it if it's tidy mate one has sold local to me around 9 months ago, nearly concours condition for about £3750 Be intesting if the guy was wrong and it turned out to be a 1.4S tho, now they are RARE ( much nicer than XR2 IMO )
chrisl Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 £200 quid for a MK2 XR2??? Thats dreaming mate, values have shot up, for really rough ones you are looking at £400-£500 quid and for a reasonable one about £1500, values are going through to roof with these, but they are cracking little cars, I have had 3 before, the last one only cost me £40, wish I had kept it now!!
GJUK Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 Someone had one on Turbosport for £3k. I spat my tea out when I saw that. Jon
mexman123 Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 ^^^Its a mk2 fiesta FFS. ^^^ £200-£300 max, its gonna need tyres, probably exhaust, brakes overhauling, full ignition kit replacing, and even if its been dry stored, i bet ya the tin worm has still attacked it, it hasn't moved for 10 years!! Once you rip those wheel arch trim/extensions off, i bet its rotten under there. But hey, its your money, let us know how you get on,
old skool estate Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 The last mk2 xr2 i had i broke it for £920 via ebay!!!! i would say they are worth good money if there up together! A good clean one i would say between £1000-2000 my last 2 mk1 fiesta,s both made 3k each, If you can get it cheap you wont lose!!! buy it I would!!!
