105Speed Posted September 18, 2006 Author Report Posted September 18, 2006 Not as bad as it could've been! Grille was a bit on the dodgy side... as were the exhausts (twin pipes on a 997/1200cc pre crossflow? )... hot dog vender was a bit suspect... pop out monitor in the rear pillar Should've kept the RS Alloys on it too The car is running a 1600 Crossflow And IMHO RS Wheels should stay on Escorts and Capris.... too new for Anglias, like Rostyles, they just look wrong. But like everything its down to personal tastes
105Speed Posted September 18, 2006 Author Report Posted September 18, 2006 whats wrong with a pinto anglia neil? What Doc says mate They are too heavy and to get them in without modding the bulkhead they sit too far ahead of the steering. If you had it on a track you would probably find you'd get loads of understeer. To get it to sit right, you put it all in with Escort suspension, but that means chopping the bulkhead out, especially if you want to run side draughts. Its just messy really and a big heavy thing in a little car. Something like a crossflow makes for a more balanced car. Alot depends on what you want it for really.
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 That was good! It was the first Pimp My Ride UK that I have watched. As for Westwood, what a Duff Spunk! "Joint"???????? I have seen their other efforts before which is why I never watch it. It was nice to see, they didn't nail on loads of plastic. I thought the car looked excellent, the only thing I didn't like was the grille & rear window! Now I don't know exactly what happens on these shows, but I noticed on the Pimp My Ride extra, they showed you the exhausts they were fitting. Right by them was a bit of rot. I know Rot & Fords are no strangers, but was this sorted out??? I can't see the point in making the car look pretty & spending all that dosh if it is rusty underneath. I would just like to say, I am not having a pop at the car, owner or the people who carried out the work, I am just interested! I loved it, and as the owner loves the 50's, wouldn't it be great to see him and the Anglia at the Ace or Ashford? YKT
Doc Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Mate the workmanship is questionable at best all fur coat and no Knickers ... I got a look at the Capri they did and they still had the original red in places the gun didnt reach (or try) You could see sanding marks in the filler and it was an iffy decision to cosworth the spoilers etc ... Each to their own though eh ! Stinkers
105Speed Posted September 18, 2006 Author Report Posted September 18, 2006 Guys bear in mind this is 'Pimp My Ride' its NOT 'Overhaulin' They really do only have three and a half weeks to do the car from start to finish and they dont know what the car is going to be like until it turns up. Hence I was running round like someone with their arse on fire trying to source all the bits. The cars all leave Carisma with an MOT, to ensure all the mods they've done are legal and dont cause any issues with future MOT's They also repair things that are needed for the MOT so on the Anglia they had to weld up parts of the floor etc. Lawrence lives right down in Cornwall so I cant see him running up to the Ashford meet.... I dont know if he'll make the Ace.
antz Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Antz you can watch the whole show online. www.mtv.co.uk/overdrive cheers!

antz Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 i wonder what happened to the RS alloys. ILL BUY EM! at least they used superlites! the alarm system i really liked the anglia though.except the dodgy alarm i thought they actually did a good job!

LUKE261 Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 thought it looked quite smart, purple with superlites, the grille was a bit 2 be desired, but like neil said earlier, lawrence likes it thats the most important thing! was expecting it 2 look like this car, as discussed a while back on barry boys.

Ahhh that wil be the reason for it not 2 want 2 broadside round roundabouts, it just understeer's but not really bad! on grass tho, she will broadside all day long!! my uncles capri will go sideways all day long round roundabouts tho but capri's are known 2 not have much rear end weight.
perry Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 im glad they asked someone knowledgeable well done neil matey boy with the wheels did come across as a bit of a gimp but you gotta remember its TV and MTV at that they have to do the work to cost so 10,000 restorations are unfesable ive seen carismas work and its not bad , good thing " the garage " is putting its names to the cars from the show
Gareth Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 The man must be on a mission to ruin 1 of every osf made I take it all back Looked well cool, I expected somethin like the Capri to happen.
105Speed Posted September 18, 2006 Author Report Posted September 18, 2006 ive seen carismas work and its not bad , good thing " the garage " is putting its names to the cars from the show Nah mate, thats just the STUPID laws we have in this country governing product placement etc etc etc In the states they can plug away, over here they arent allowed any of that due to Off-Com rules. Which is why there was no.... "and heres Neil from 105Speed with a pair of mint doors, a bonnet, some bumpers, seals, indicators, chrome bits etc etc etc" Thats why they are called 'The Garage' and not Carisma. When you see the finished result you'd never think the car had fibre wings... And talking to the lads who do the actual painting they would have liked 6 weeks just to paint the car, let alone 3.5 weeks to do the whole thing. Oh well.. its all done now and if it gets a few more people inspired to buy an Old Skool Ford then thats a good thing. And if it puts some people off then thats good too as there will be more for us to buy.. So its a win win situation
CéDriC Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 I've painted my rear light surround in Black (in fact they're carbon cover) but i use to have Lotus steelies...
RChambers Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Good to see them taking an interest in something other than the plastic fantastics. 3 1/2 weeks is ages though, overhauling only get a week and turbosport only had 4 days! Have to say they are getting much better though as the Capri was pure shite!
Doc Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Any pictures ...... Cant get onto the MTV site with my Mac
escortmad79 Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 was expecting it 2 look like this car, as discussed a while back on barry boys. Honestly thought it was going to be that car

Mate my stock 997 Anglia seriously hangs the back out in the wet, and you should see ppls faces tis nicely balanced with pre xflow, xflow and zetecs i would expect, ditch the pinto & fit a zetec, they're quite cheap too. Ive only seen the pic on 105speed, and I really liked it except the grille, it looks old skool custom car apart from the rims and I love the headlining. I'll look at the show on the web later.
105Speed Posted September 19, 2006 Author Report Posted September 19, 2006 Any pictures ...... Cant get onto the MTV site with my Mac
105Speed Posted September 20, 2006 Author Report Posted September 20, 2006 For those who were asking about pics there are about 70 in the Pimp My Ride Gallery check out www.mtv.co.uk/pimp/ Once on the Pimp My Ride site there is a Gallery tab, select that and in there are galleries of the cars they've done The Anglia is at the top. Check it out..... I think you'll like it
RFChris Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 Just seen the pics. I like the overall look of the cra, but it needs to be lower and the grille is mingin. Other than that, very niceley done!
