I had a similar problem on an earlier one a 300 swb, gear change went realy stif and then lost all gears except 3rd, turned out it was a sprigot bearing on the selecter, cheap part but a sod to do, as said mine was older then yours an 04 but still cable change,

didnt they have problems with that new type of flywheel. cant think what its called now but i know ford and vag had a lot of probs with them. i think when you have a new clutch you have to change the flywheel to and its about £1200 for the flywheel. did a few at my last job. fookin nuiscance.

edit... dual mass fly wheel. swank

Dont know if this may help, got a new shape 56 plate, gears were all stiff and hard to move, the gearstick is connected to a cable, anyway I got water in the cable, maybe thats a manufacturing fault. it was frozen and stiff with all this cold weather, got the cable off and shoved some wd40 down it and now its perfect again........it worked for me...

Yep dual mass flywheel  It's basically two flywheels that have torsion springs, like a friction plate in a clutch, so that they can move slighty of each other. Wa la, smoother gear change...... Well that's it put simply anyways, I don't know the ins an outs! But yes it's bloody expensive.

Anyways, I drive an '09 Tranny but haven't had this issue :? My friend with an X reg Transit did though. Turned out to be the gear selector going? Pain of a job too.

Could be a DMF prob, do you get a jingly noise when you turn it off? If it is that that's a fault, prepare for a big bill. Also replace it with a Valeo solid flywheel, they last much longer than the original. So I am told, I have none of these problems. In about 40 years the Mk1-5 somehow struggled on with the old fashioned solid lump, and they never went wrong!
