I'm going to be editing the newsletter (my first one will be sometime this spring) and i wondered if there were any members of the club on here?

 

if so have you got any features, stories, reports, want your escort featured etc etc

 

i'd guess any kind of input from non members would be gratefully received too - for instance, i'd like to do a report on security at some point

besides, they only have a visitor's book on their site

THIS is the problem, most people are on the net, and its the easyest way to contact eachother / organise meets etc etc.

 

IMHO the SEOC NEEEEEEEDDDDSSS a forum, badly - otherwise it will eventually sink, especially as theres no news letters now

By newsletter do you mean the magazine is coming back?? I sure hope so it's been missed. The SEOC is a good club and has been promoting the MKI & MKII Escort since it started in 1985 and caters for all models modified or standard.

 

They don't have a forum but people do leave messages in the visitors book so may be worth posting something there if you haven't done already.

someone on another forum told me they had tried to get them to set up a forum and use the internet more but that they weren't keen

 

i'm going to be pressing for at the very least, a digital version of the magazine to email to people or put up on the site

I'm an ex-member.

I joined in about August '85 and left in Nov '89 after writing off my Escort estate and buying a non-Ford.

I've still got all my old newsletters from issue 2 to issue 27, if you're interested you can have them.

can organise meets, catch up with other members on the off season, see eachothers projects, advertise if they want.. And you can set one up for free

Thats great news well done for stepping in to become editor, I cant wait to get the new mag.

 

They did put some of the magazine on the net, however I think it would be a bad idea to put it all on there as if people could read it for free it would discourage membership. They do need a forum (for SEOC members only) this is now in 2010 a priority. But I think one of the issues they had was finding people who had the time to moderate the forum.

i guess they don't know how to set it up or have no one to run / moderate it

Years ago I offered to help with their website. I was told i would have to be approved by the committee and that the current website chappy wouldnt be happy with me helping. So I was told 'no' too.

 

They think it's a big coporation, and realistically it's just an old dinosaur.

 

I was a member, I'm not any more.

 

Incidentally. Anyone heard from Peter recently. Is he ok?

have been to a few seoc events battlesbridge,abridge,enfield and your national day..all good days out and friendly ....... top man ...

Used to be a member but there were never any people or meets up in the north of England, and I could get technical info free from the net. Seemed a bit pointless in the end.

one of the first things to address now the mag is back is the lack of area co-ordinators so hopefully in the not too distant future there will be someone representing every region
