spike105e Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 Sure this has been done a million times but i need help!!! I bought a t9 5-speed and pinto from a p100, i got some blocks to lower the back of the box and the original Escort mount bolts up. The problem is the gbox is way too far forward, the gearlever whole lines up and i know this should not be so. Whats wrong? i guess i am using the wrong gbox mount/xmember, any ideas? Any help greatly appreciated!!!!
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 you cant mount the gear box on the mounts already there you need to move the gear stick hole back about 2 inches and either make your own gearbox mount and bolt it through the floor or cut off and move back the mounts and use the lowering blocks you already have you need the rs 2000 prop too
spike105e Posted March 23, 2010 Author Report Posted March 23, 2010 Cheers for that, that would be why the box is so far forward and there is hardly room for the pinto!! probably best to mount the engine first and then see where the box sits? Thanks again.

Any help greatly appreciated!!!! the stick hole needs moving back about 4" + the p100 box has shite ratios and the motor is low compression so not alot of good either. sorry
spike105e Posted March 23, 2010 Author Report Posted March 23, 2010 It will be faster than what was in it!!!
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 yes put engine in first then you can measure it properly i dont think its as much as 4 inches though i was gonna say about the p100 be low compression not sure on the box ratios is your pinto out of the p100 too because they are low compression and it wont go as fast as a standard pinto from a car
spike105e Posted March 25, 2010 Author Report Posted March 25, 2010 Would it not just be a matter of skimming the head to raise the compression?
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 the head will be ok itsthe pistons they are different
Admin Vista Posted March 25, 2010 Admin Report Posted March 25, 2010 Wot pistons do the p100 have. Low compression ones (they aren't as tall). As to T9 ratios in the P100, I wasn't aware that they were any different to other T9's. The only three ratio sets that I know are: 2.8i T9 Pinto T9 Diesel T9 Can anyone confirm or deny whether there's also a P100 set of ratios?
Ken B Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 The P100 does indeed have different ratios(unless they're the same as a diesel, I dont know what they are). You can climb mountains with the first gear P100's have!! 1st: 3.91:1 2nd: 2.29:1 3rd: 1.38:1 4th: 1.00 5th: 0.82:1 rev: 3.66:1 1st 3 gears different to Sierra. The rest are the same.
spike105e Posted March 26, 2010 Author Report Posted March 26, 2010 So surely skimming the head would still raise the compression?
rallyesport04 Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 So surely skimming the head would still raise the compression? this will change the change the cam timing as the cam will be nearer the block maybe not very noticable on a low tuned car to get it spot on a verior will be needed fitting high comp pistons would be a better solution also skiming the head an fitting a cam you may need to pocket the pistons
spike105e Posted March 27, 2010 Author Report Posted March 27, 2010 So fitting a set of standard pistons from a high compression engine would do it then? is the compression difference much?
