I have been offerd a lotus mk2 cortina, it is in bits and needs ALOT of welding (not sure what yet) but will be looking soon, everthing is there to put it back together, i just want to know what you guys think its worth? just think really bad with regarsd to welding (i know how to use a welder) ;)

I myself, me only, just my opinion. I would pay £50 for a rotten cortina shell, regardless of it being a lotus.

Saying that, if all the bits are complete, the engine etc will be worth money and push this figure upwards quite a bit

ok cheers guys hes offered it to me for 2k im a little unsure if its worth that bearing in mind i havent seen what welding is really needed, and the engine may need a rebuild which i can do all myself?

mate if its a genuine lotus with all the right bits that is an absolute steal

I would agree with this from the prices I've seen them go for.

suppose I would pay about 4 - 5 k for a genuine mk2 lotus basket case if all there.

welding is just time and effort.

was I a bit high with this if its just welding?

i dont think so depends on extent of welding

i looked at one a couple of years ago, it was pushed into a garage with no door 18 years ago! he wanted £2500. i crushed all the outriggers with my hands! it would have broke into pieces if it was moved!

i walked away.

it got shipped to australia to be restored

with modified fords you know you will never get your money back as soon as you start off, in some cases like the lotus cortina their value keeps escalating through time, so whatever effort you put into it will be worth it at the end of the day. i'd go for it provided you have the space, time and patience to sort it out

they do, in exchange for some £££££££££££

The following is some correspondence had with them:

1/2 FLOOR 105E ANGLIA

@ £145.00

Plus carriage/packing at approx £100.00

plus 15% V.AT..

Total to pay would be £281.75.

Delivery approx 15 - 20 days from confirmation of order.

Then I found two brand new escort floorboards locally for 60€ and fitted those

yet again, you would want to stick to the original as far as possible in case of a lotus shell, so it's worth investing in quality reproductions
