GJUK
With regards to the minty mint mint mint new blue RS1600 on display with mirrors under it at the AVO day... What an amazing car that was, the owner was chatting to me and it's only done ~650 odd miles in its life. All the screw heads were faxing tin the same direction, he'd put three NEW grills on it in the past 2 years and its done two and a half (yes two an a half) miles since its last MOT. I have to admire the guy. But I would want to get in it and drive the thing He was using gloves to open and close the doors and argh... Still, quite amazing not seen it before today Jon

GJUK
Amazing though. I agree it's not what I would do with it but... It's his car. The engine and box are coming out next he said... To replace the copper brake lines with steel ones, as although he's painted the copper ones silver, they need to be steel... Must have money to throw at it so it's not really even and investment as he's spending what must be thousands each year 'improving' it. Stunning to see but I left the car walking away feeling confused about it's purpose.
Posse
I saw that ninja apparently he had the tyres in the loft for a few years in the dark so they stayed mint I just thought the covers on the tyres when he was driving it across the grass were to keep them warm like F1

I was going to point out some ever so slight pitting on his chrome bumpers but I thought better of it. Still, a stunning car. Some people do jigsaws, he builds full scale cars! Even if you disagree with it, you have to respect the time and funds he's ploughed in to the car. It was stunning.

GJUK
that motor is worth a fooking mint,a defo investment which is why he wont use it.he is a nice fella as well.was on the lakes tour But with an investment you're owning such an item to make money on it. If you bought it, bubble wrapped it for 10 years then sold it making money on the purchase price then its a possitive investment. This guy obviously spends thousands on it doing 'pointless' (in terms of and investment) jobs on the car, such as replacing the perfect brake pipes. Also, he told me he'd never sell it unless he was offered a silly amount. I think he's trying to make it perfect and as that goal is soo impossible to reach, he keeps throwing money at it to get it almost there. It's his hobby for sure rather than an investment. Mk2Jo
To be fair, it was AVO Day ... it was the AVO show and as such you should expect to see mint/concours cars that are cleaner and more perfect than the day they left the factory I believe that cars should be driven as well as shown, HOWEVER, I can appreciate the time taken and effort made in keeping them in pristine condition and bringing them out every now and then so that we can all see them Each to their own. If you don't want to see minty fresh cars .... don't go to the AVO show, simples .... Don't go there and complain about them As for the show and the club stand .... well done to all who came along .. we had a nice selection of Escorts on the stand. Well done to Ian (Driver) for arranging a club stand and starting a list, well done to Gary (popeye) for sorting the banner and setting up the stand (nice to meet you at last Gary ) and thanks to Tim who arranged a good spot for us to show off our cars CheeRS Timmy Here is our trophy - voted for by the AVO peeps - thank you very much, we did not expect to win anything and it was a very big surprise and very welcome, cheeRS guys It is our 2nd club trophy so far this year so we must be doing something right
