I had to sell up a few parts on my escort but i hope to be back on track and i will be 'starting again' with my escorts suspension, brakes and wheels.

Do i go for 13's or 15's???

I love the look of 13's on a mk1 escort but i know i'll have trouble with the exhaust clearence as i have quite a big collector and pipe under the car.

If i go for 15's, that means bigger brakes (more cost).

So, i need some inspiration!

Could peeps put up pics of BUBBLE ARCHED MK1's with either 13" or 15" wheels please?

It deffo has to be split rims too as they are just the danglies! so splitties prefered!

Cheers all, i hope to see some lovely pics here!

15's and sit them right up in the arches :).

you dont NEED bigger brakes for 15's, just buy them later when you have the cash :).

13's... nahh, if you're going 13's they are going to have to sit a long way out of the arches to give clearance for your exhaust (unless you get a nice exhaust tunnel??) but still, in my opinion they dont "fill" the arches, i know its the retro look, but 15's all the way

says him who thinks the 15's on his capri are a little bit on the small side ;)

16's on the capri ftw, like in my siggy pic... need dish though now ;)

Bubbled arched mk1s dont get any better than this in my opinion! Fredrik Halvorsens from Aug 07 issue of Retro Ford. 9x15" split rims!

Cheers guys.

I must admit, i do like the 10x13's but with them sticking out of the arch like that, its a bit 'euro' look aint it? Still cool though.

I had a bit of luck yesterday evening, i took off my rear brakes and group 4 studs and offered my 8x15 compomotive ML's up and it looks like they will fit under the arches!

I never in a million years thought they would fit with my 52" atlas axle!

Pretty happy now and i think i will get some new shafts and studs and use them until i can afford some super sexy splitties!

but wheels protruding the bubbles aint a good look imho

neither is stretched tyres (also IMHO)

Personally I'd go for 15's as you want a drivers car after all and bigger brakes will improve that for you.

also, your arches are really high up on the sides of the car, looks like the few with 13" ers up above have lower bubbles... maybe thats just the angle of the photos, same for the van, they look higher than the guys with 13's.

hehehe
