baz105e Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 well after killing my first engine on its first outing at cf show (before i even got on the strip) i popped down to see a certain mr jenkins who had an engine sat around which he very kindly donated to the cause (thanks again kev ) so after a couple of days and 12 cans of redbull the new engine is in and running . i only have one problem and thats when i open the throttle it will hesitate slightly (asif it has no spark) before revving up. i have a vaccumm guage on the dash and if i open the throttle slowly and keep the guage between 20 and 25 hg the revs will build with no hessitation but if i open the throttle fast it will hessitate. you can see this on the vid. any ideas? oh and the exhaust isnt staying like that its just a silencer welded onto the end of my side exit to keep the neighbours happy
baz105e Posted July 26, 2010 Author Report Posted July 26, 2010 well i dont think so as i've just put a 125 psi fuel pump on and im getting a strong ammount of fuel back through the return, there is also a regulator built into the fuel rail
BaileyMex Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 I had similar problems a few years ago and traced it to a poor earth on the facel fuel pump i'd just fitted.
baz105e Posted July 26, 2010 Author Report Posted July 26, 2010 ok i'll check all of my connections again just incase the earth on the fuel pump is a little poor anyway i'll make a proper earth with a nice thick wire
KJ 1320 Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 Nice one m8 see what it's like after you've run it around for a bit if you've got a pressure gauge check the fuel pressure. p.s. Kieran is driving me mad!
baz105e Posted July 26, 2010 Author Report Posted July 26, 2010 pmsl kev, i'm going to run it for an hour or so later in the week (dads on nights) it did it with the old engine too, well when i first ran it it was fine then when i got it to pod it started doing it and i apologise for any nagging caused i dont have a fuel pressure guage so i dont know how im going to check fuel pressure
baz105e Posted July 26, 2010 Author Report Posted July 26, 2010 i've just had a brain fart !!! when i took the engine out i bent the copper fuel pipe a bit i think i may've kinked it reducing the pressure. well thats another job on my TO DO list think i just needed a little mental inspiration cheers guys
KJ 1320 Posted July 26, 2010 Report Posted July 26, 2010 I've got fuel injection pressure testing stuff m8,I'll bring it up with me when we come up,as soon as I have another day off
