there are plenty of people using english axles with quite high powered YB turbo's.

It all depends on what tyres your running. If your unarched and using little 13x6" wheels n tyres, then i reckon the english will be fine as the grip just breaks before any of the related components.

If, however your arched and running 8-10" wide rubber, then an atlas will be fine unless your running silly turbo power.

Most people use std atlas's with around 330bhp with no probs.

I was running a std Atlas with 230BHP (N/A) recently and that was fine and took all the abuse i could throw at it.

Its all on how deep your pockets are, you could uprate the atlas shafts to quaife/squires 2-piece shafts for extra security.

I will be putting roughly 250bhp through a std atlas on 8" wheels soon.

I'm running an atlas. with 9j wheels and 225 R888's, power wise i'm looking to have around 380bhp, am i best off getting the uprated shafts? fostek quoted around £600 for these.

My Starlet currently runs a 270BHP YB

I recently built a 48inch baby Atlas with Squires 18tooth 2piece shafts & LSD.

7x13 rims with soft 175/50 A048Yokos.

Soon to be 330+BHP & will prob use slicks for the strip.

Thought I'd better build a strong axle first before I hike the power up..

My Escort runs a 145ish brake pinto with a std English axle & open diff.

I broke the planet gears on the start line @ Pod last year. I was running slicks and it was only a moderate launch. I couldn't believe how easily it broke!!!

Deffo need something better than an english if ya running any kind of decent power and wanna use it properly

Its the torque that kills them, not so much the bhp.

Atmo cossie engines make bugger all torque, even compared to a

lightly tuned turbo engine.

What set up are you gonna run ?

puddy

I'm running approx 380hp, its going to be road/ track day use and all i've got at the min is a std axle, so i know i need an LSD but again i'm open to suggestions as to which one.

When people say quaffe internals, what are the internals?
