Looks very much like a mazda in places ,they tried it with the probe and the Cougar and they never sold well and this is an even braver move.Right in the middle of a economic crisis where the motor industry is on its arse ,launch a car like that .

I know i will get shouted down for this ,but the company car drivers of today do not want to drive FORDs anymore ,they will go for Mazda or BMW as Ford is no longer the badge to have .Yes its snob value and im sure theres a lot of you that would love to see a "new Capri " out there but the reality is the original concept in the 60s was ground breaking and there wasnt much if any competition in the uk ,so it sold very well ,today its a different story .

All that said i hope im wrong and it does well ,the mustang has worked in the us ,but that is a different market and its rwd .

I hope it never happens. I don't think Ford Europe are capable of producing anything that can do the Capri name justice.

If Ford want to give the Europeans a proper sports coupe they should just sell the Mustang there.

It just doesn't look right does it...?! I hate to say it but I personally think VW have done a far better job with the Scirocco...! Either way I'd rather spend the money it will cost to get one of these 'new' Capri's on a few tidy originals...!!!

I disagree. Whilst I don't mind the Scirroco, it just looks like a modern sports coupe and carries over none of the design cues from the mk1 and 2 scirrocos of the 70's and 80's. Take off the VW badges and it could be from any manufacturer. Unlike their revamped Beetle, which whilst I hate, is unmistakably a development of the original Beetle. Same can be said for BMW's MINI, until that god awful Countryman came out recently, it was clearly a design carry over of the original Mini.

The same can be said for this interpretation of the Capri, the wind screen, roof line, side and 1/4 windows all scream Capri at me. As does the bonnet shape and the way it interacts with the upper grill, that's pure mk1 capri.

I still like it.
