does anybody else have the same problem as i do?

im very close with my dad and hes always poping up when im messing with a car, for example me and gt lenny was fitting a set of twin 45s on a pinto on a mk2 escort van i used to have, along lerks my dad and all i get is tut tut tut  , suping it up are ya,i dont know why your bothering with that it should have a 1300 in it, then in the next breath hes telling me and lenny about a mk2 transit he had, how him and his mate cammed and carbed it and had the head ported etc and it went like stink  . then lenny pops round in his freshly built cortina, along pops me dad and tut tut tut  , wot engine you got in that len, a zetec replies lenny, then me dad quotes (if ford wanted it to have that engine in it, ford would have put that engine in it), then in the next breath its, i had an anglia once and it was as slow as fook so i ripped the original lump out and put a 1500 in it, that went well  . i cant win with him, hes always got me and lenny in fits of laughter with his hypocritical comments.

just wondered if anybody else has the same problem i do.

Save up the funnies for when you'll miss him. My old man died just after Christmas, he had a good innings, at 89, served his time on Rolls Royce, Daimler and Minerva, serviced as an apprentice, and drove, at Brooklands. Spent 5yrs landscaping parts of North Africa and Europe from 10,000ft, Stock car raced in the early 50's. Gave me grief (in good fun) at my cockups as a pup, showed me how to blueprint and balance my 1200 Anglia when I was 16 (1973) then told me I was on my own, but always got his spanners out when I got it wrong, in his early 80's he could set up a Model A engine to run like a Swiss watch. Still miss the old bugger!

My old man moans like hell about modern engines in old cars, like when I put the DOHC in mine. But then told me I should have Zetec'd it. And kept the standard injection? But then he moans about me wanting to bike carb my pinto engine and/or supercharge it, yet has a 350bhp 2006 crate 350Ci Chevy V8 in his 1956 truck with a 2007 auto gearbox? Parent's are just weird...

Mine has given me looks and had a little moan about doing doughnuts and revving up etc. Though the first thing he did after it drove out of the garage under its own steam was do a rolling burnout and 5 minutes of doughnuts. Hes a funny bugger but i wouldnt change a thing about him.... :D

Must admit , it was my old man , indirectly , that got me into OldSkool Fords in the first place.....and he has no idea :lol:

As a nipper growing up , all his early company cars where FORD  I can recall MK3 Tinas , Escorts , even a Granada at one point....not sure if it was his or just " borrowed " , but they set me on my way

Then his company diverted to B*******L****** shite........Alllaggros and Poncessesssss :oops:

Not sure if he understands my fascination with OldSkool.....but hes never knocked me for it , and he has been known to sit in any of my cars when biult . As for my Mum , well shes a complete Petrolhead....used to go watch races at Crystal Palace as a kid she did.....:mrgreen:
