Just watching the news and it has been announced that Osama Bin Laden has been killed by a US Special Forces attack in Pakistan :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: ... but, the experts are saying that his "power" had already waned and there are more important Al Qaeda members already in charge

What do you think will happen now? :?

That's something to look forward to then :shock::shock:

Andrade, just changing the subject slightly, how is Malta being affected by what is going on in Libya? You are not that far from there  ... have you got an influx of refugees arriving on the Island fleeing from Libya? I know you already have the holding camp for illegals down by Hal-Far ... it must be overflowing by now :?

Well, all is absolutely fine here. No bombs falling or fighter jets going past our windows.

The biggest issue at the moment is the reluctance of the EU about the burden sharing thing. Malta and Italy are head to head against who will take the incoming immigrants. Thing is Malta has a population of 400,000 so 10,000 immigrants would amount to 2.5% of our population.... and currently they are coming in boatloads of about 600 people. The term "overrun" takes a different meaning when the nation's surface area is negligible on the world's map and one of the country's main industries is tourism.

I did hear reports that trains carrying immigrants between Italy and France were stopped at the border by the French authorities because they didn't want them coming into France although this has now been retracted I believe.

As for beautiful Malta ... I hope you don't end up with all those immigrants because, at the moment, crime is relatively low there and I think that with immigrants comes crime ... probably a controversial comment but that is how I feel - I have seen the area around Hal-Far and it feels unsafe :?

Let the Italians have them I say :lol::lol:

Problem is ... many immigrants try to get to the UK so I expect we will be affected also eventually :?

I check the news every morning on our local times website and the only news regarding immigrants I have ever come across were of them arriving here, that containment facilities have been upgraded, and once there was a quarrel between themselves. Other than that the ones that are allowed to leave the containment facilities do jobs around such as cleaning, I have come across a few at local mechanics/machine shops too.

So I would say there is no crime directly related to them.

I did hear about the trains going to France but I don't know what happened since then.

With regards to the Italians having them:

I think of myself as quite a grounded tolerant person but this is what I think.....

It is fantastic news and has made a great weekend. As for a Matyr - well he was already a figurehead/demi-god to extremists. What the US have done is very clever, they have kept to Islamic tradition of burying the body within 24Hrs by dumping him at sea. At the same stroke they have denied any grave being made into a shrine while effectively turning him into fish food - beautiful.

There is no use tip toeing around this issue in my opinion. Extremists values are so evil, warped, ingrained and cancerous that the effective solution is simply to kill them.

He's responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent men, women and children of all races and religions. I hope he felt some of their terror as the molten lead passed through his body in his final moments.

Pure scum, I'm having a BBQ to celebrate this weekend

I think yes he's gone but his men are still out there and my gut feeling is its going to go tits up for us :? Us and the yanks fooked off that fella in Iraq now all summer been larging it and we are out in where ever trying to get to get that chap out of power.

Al Qaeda have now confirmed/acknowledged the death of Osama Bin Laden and have promised retaliation to America and it's allies .... I guess we just sit and wait now

Its a bit of a waiting game now ...I do however feel that there will be some backlash from this

I struggle with the fact that he was not found in the last 10 years :?

I also am sceptical about his body being thrown into the sea

But,there will always be successors of such evil despicable men

That was my thoughts too, but then they were scouring afghanastan as long they probably didnt think our "allies" were harbouring him. And dim wit Cameron just chucked millions of our dosh to help eductate em  Means they will be more clever an be able to hide wanted terorists even better

I also heard that the Irish SAS joined in with the US Mission - they stormed Debenhams after hearing that summer bed linen was on the 3rd floor ....
