JP. Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 Which GP1 2-piece one to go for??? Tran-X Quaife std E24 steel or Heavy Duty EN30B steel Gartac gp1. Just broke one and need to upgrade. Have 260rwhp on a supercharged engine. Its a narrowed Capri mk3 Atlas axle to about Baby size with a Quaife ATB. Fostec replied back they cant help me out as they only do 18T and I am still on 16T. Burton seems to have issues with Quaife as they can not asure me a delivery time ( stock on order untill.........more that 4 weeks from now.)
Darran Posted July 16, 2011 Report Posted July 16, 2011 Gartrac may have 16 spline in stock. But can cut down to the width you want no problem.
jamie956 Posted July 18, 2011 Report Posted July 18, 2011 Give Lea at Atkins Motorsport a call him might be able to help, 07974 638324
JP. Posted July 19, 2011 Author Report Posted July 19, 2011 Quaife came back yesterday and they don't have them on stock either. Not even a date... Tran X............ not sure what to think about.Could be good could be bad. Never heard a word about their halfshafts and I don't want to take a change. Called Gartac and they will have them on stock by the end of the week and ship them right over to Holland. Nice people to speak with. Very helpfull and gave me all the information I needed.
xrt_si Posted July 21, 2011 Report Posted July 21, 2011 Out of interest why haven't you chosen to go over to 18 spline shafts?
JP. Posted July 22, 2011 Author Report Posted July 22, 2011 I wanted it to do the easy way. They now just slide in and I don't have to dismantle the whole axle. Doing it all on the ground meaning the axle has to come out before dismantling. Comming out means also Watts and torsionbars has to come loose. Have a diff plate too with twin gaskets.... Next issue is money..Converting to 18spline carriers means also a 200 quit investment. Had no marks of torsion on the splines too.
deltamal Posted July 22, 2011 Report Posted July 22, 2011 Have a word with Tom at Fostec, they made upgraded ones for my Atlas sent the axle to them for fitting, will take 450 brake.
