martymk1 Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 did anyone go to the ace lastnite? they've started up a blue oval performance nite, just wondering if anyone went to it, too see what it was like? ( couldn't go i was working )
kms Posted January 24, 2007 Report Posted January 24, 2007 Ay we took a trip down there last night - far too much plastic for my liking. There was a nice splattering of Old Skool Ford there and it was sooo busy - no where to park. I doubt that there will be too many more 'blue oval nights' at the ace marshall got a bit grumpy - kind of understandably really. But we had a good time, met some people that I haven't seen for years.

105Speed Posted January 25, 2007 Report Posted January 25, 2007 It was a total Chav-Fest... Old Skool Saturday is far more civilised.. I managed to get in the car park after about 9:00 which was nice... but it was just like it was last year.. Someone is going to get killed or seriously injured... The one thing I found out last night which has got me buzzing... A chap came over and was admiring my Zetec install and then said.. come and have a look at my Volvo.. I thought... A Volvo ? Are you having a laugh ! Anyway... we go over the road and there was a little Volvo 340.. He pops the bonnet and there is a 1.8 Williams Clio motor in there. in RWD format.... As we were talking 2 young lads go past in a 4 door Volvo 340 up to the round about... do 5 or 6 doughnuts and power slide off up the road.. FANTASTIC.. Volvo 340 £200..... Clio 172 Motor (170bhp) £500... Chubby MiniLites £300.. What a way to spend £1000... 170 bhp Rear Wheel Drive.. who the fook needs an Escort

Daggle Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 Quote "What a way to spend £1000... 170 bhp Rear Wheel Drive.. who the fook needs an Escort" I'd rather have an Escort.... and would pay the extra money for it too

Twinkle Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 not quite sure why the oval performance night was advertised in practical classics mag
105Speed Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 Guys... your missing the point a little, this is about big power rear wheel drive fun with little consequence.. not about style. If you bin a Volvo you can get another one for a few hundred quid, Renault motors are cheap as chips on Flea-bay and plentiful. How much would 170bhp in a Pinto cost these days ? You cant do that with Escorts... even a half decent 4 door is going to be over a grand now and then you've got to dial in the power and it all gets expensive. I'm not saying we should all ditch the blue oval and go over to Volvos.. all I'm saying is, if you like a bit of rear wheel drive drift action its a real cheap way to do it
